My fiancé and I really want a Bengal cat but we aren't sure if we can have one because in our house we have 2 rabbits, a pure bread lilac bunny, and a dwarf brown and white bunny, we also have an amazing Rhodesian ridgeback who is very good with our 3 year old son. If anyone can give advice telling us if it's ok to have Rabbits and a Bengal in the same house we would appreciate it

When we spot a bunny on our walks, Raiden wants it! I suggest you visit this website which contains links to other websites that may offer you some better information. I do suggest that you never leave them alone together (and I'm sure the rabbits are caged a lot--make sure the cat can't unlock the cage -- and supervise them until you are certain there will be no problems.

Oooh I know one of the members Lollo has homed a Tonk with a house rabbit - same principles would apply I think....hopefully she will be a long to give you some information

I would actually be more concerned about the Ridgeback then about the rabbits.

Why would you be concerned about the ridgeback?

Two of my Tonk kittens now live with two house rabbits...

This is Mimi when she first met Pringle and Noodle:





They place chase together and actually snooze together sometimes. Mimi is now 18 months old and her brother is 9 months... They love the rabbits.

As with any new pet... Never leave them alone together until you can be absolutely sure.


I will also add, I raised my kittens on a mixed diet including raw rabbit. They had rabbit fur toys they loved to play with...... So far they just view the rabbits as different cats! Not a play source of food sources!

Lollo, your kitten was teeny and the rabbits were much larger. It's going to depend on the size of the animals. I don't think a kitten could take on a larger rabbit, but if they are about the same size, you may have problems. My Raiden goes after everything. He has carried in baby squirrels, live mice into the house (they've gotten into his outdoor cat enclosure). I'm sure he'd grab on to a small rabbit. That being said, when the rabbit is a pet and there 24/7, it could be a different story. Still, I'd be extra careful.

We had a rabbit once that used to chase our cat (not a bengal). I had heard that pet rabbits will smell different because they are handled.
We now have chickens and ginny comes down with me to feed them, though I wouldn't leave her alone with them, and jaz used to jump over the fence then wait for me to let him out as I think their noise frightened him.
So I think with care you will be OK.
