I am a new Bengal owner, and have acquired 3 in the past month in a half. We first adopted Simba from Kitty Angels here in the States back in November. He is such a doll, and my whole family fell in love with him immediately. Our older cat passed away within 2 weeks of us getting Simba, so we decided he needed a friend. We were only looking for 1, but to my surprise we found sisters that needed a new home, and how could I take one and not the other. Needless to say my house has been taken over by them, and I couldn't be happier.

My concern though is, the older female has what seems like "flea dirt" or black heads under her chin. I have tried washing it, but doesn't seem to be getting any better. She doesn't like to be held for too long for me to do too much to her without having my arms clawed off. :)

They have 2 bowls, one is ceramic and the other is stainless still. I was informed to stay away from plastic.

Thank you for the link. I have only had the girls for about 2 weeks, so I will discuss it with the Vet when they go in for their checkup this week.

I've noticed that Luna has had a fairly large (pea size) scab on her chin for a week or so. Until now I thought it was because she hit her chin one day when making a daring leap to the top of a cabinet. But seeing this makes me wonder if it is possibly chin acne. I'm hesitant to start using peroxide wipes (as some sites was suggested for acne) if it is in fact just a scab. How long should I let her scab heal before assuming it is acne?

One of mine has always had this (and he is almost 4 years old now). The other, his brother, has developed it in the last year. Vet said it was acne and we initially tried to treat with poor results. I have no idea what causes it, they have never had plastic dishes and are not stressed. It doesn't seem to bother them, and the spots are mild, so for the last three years I have just left it. I know they would not be happy kitties if I tried to rub substances onto their faces, it seems silly to stress them out over something that is basically cosmetic. Though maybe I will mention it to my new vet when the cats next go for their check up - I did kind of assume they would grow out of it when they got older, but they haven't!

My neighbor's cat has something similar and it turned out to be a food allergy. When she feed him a special diet free from this particular protein (I think it was chicken that caused it) the spots on his chin went away. It took her a while to figure out the cause.

Mine developed a dark slightly scabby area on his chin that was all white fur before. seems to be acne from what anyone could guess
he is about 5 months old and it started about 3 weeks ago.

Eats / drinks good food out of daily cleaned and well rinsed glass bowls.
My house is more or less spotless as I vacuum three times a week and use an industrial steam cleaner on the surfaces instead of chemicals.
theres not plants or anything for him to get into, just hard wood floors and furniture and his cat tree.
litter box is paper type, which I clean daily and throw it away weekly.
Soooo Kinda weird. Not sure what could give him acne. Maybe it's a phase


though... mine is dealing with TF that didnt go away with the first dose of ronidazole, so could be he is run down or something from the TF, just taking it one step at a time
retrying the ronidazole for the TF and trying to gently rinse his chin with soapy water after he eats for now has kept it from worsening (although hasn't improved either)
