Me and the boyfriend have been feeding two (seeming to be) stray cats in the neighborhood for the past 6 months. They usually stop by everyday for breakfast and dinner, sometimes they will sit by the front door for majority of the day. two sweetest cats. We asked my boyfriends father if he would be interested in them, since his cat has passed some time ago and he has a soft spot for cats. He said he would be. We plan to take them to the vet to get them their shots, scan for chip, etc within the next couple weeks now that we've found them an indoor home.
Well, I came home today and one of the cats was panting pretty heavy. Its still pretty hot right now, the weather wont cool off until November. but I have never seen him pant before, and we've had hotter days. Does anyone else see their cats pant, do you think it may be normal to pant when outside? I immediately went in and got him a cool bowl of water, and some wet food. he wasn't interested in the water, but he was in the wet food of course. He was in a good mood for the most part aswell: meowing and rolling around on his belly. I opened my garage door so he can roam in there too if he wanted to cool off. I would probably let them inside if my tabby girl didn't hate them so much! any other suggestions for what I can do for this little guy? Or if you think this might be normal for being outside? Basil pants on his way to the vet sometimes, but I know that is caused from stress. I don't think the stray kitty was stressed in that moment though.
