Hi everyone!

I need some help, I have had my Bengal,TC, for a year now, absolutely loving him more and more day by day. He is just the most loving cat I have ever seen.

Over the weekend I got a husky puppy, I wanted a dog to be safe and to go jog with, my cat might think I'm crazy if I tag him along hehe These 2 met last night, well the pup wanted to play, but my cat did come in to have a sniff but most of the time he would look at a distance. I would just like to know, must I just give them time? Or what must one do to make it ok with them both in the house? I really do hope they will get along well since they both are still very young.

It's going to take time for the cat to get used to and accept the dog. Make sure TC has places he can go to get away from the dog and make sure he has a litter box, food and water in a safe place that is off limits to the dog. We use baby gates to block off bedrooms from the dogs but allow the cats full access.

Yes I've kept my room off limits for the dog, that is my cat's safe haven hehe so the dog does not get in there. I will see how it goes with them this week :)

When we introduced puppies to the cats we usually put a gate up that the cats can get over but not the dog. That way the cat has a safe area and they can get to know each other on their own terms and timeline.

Oh dear ... a new face, a new smell in my territory! How would you react? Each dog and cat is different. Some hit it off like best buddies. Others take a while to get along, and some will never get along. Your dog and cat will have different energy levels and I just hope the puppy does't look at the cat as a playmate as he will end up with scratches and bites. I know people who have dogs and cats, but the cats are outdoors and the cat just tolerates the dogs. You have an interesting combination now but it's up to the dog and cat to like each other. It may take some time. Hang in there and be patient and don't go punishing either one for something they may do around the other. Good luck.

Huskies, and similar Spitz-type dogs and cats do not mix well.
Huskies are prey-driven dogs, scary for cats.

Beautiful dogs just not safe around cats and other small furries.

Husky puppies are adorable, but they often grow up to be very high maintenance dogs that need a lot of monitoring. I have a friend whose cat got shredded by their 9 month old husky after the two had snuggled together when the husky was a young pup.

I would be VERY wary of keeping both animals, as sad as that is.
