I just finished this story on audible, and it really is a very memorable book, especially for cat lovers.

It's somewhat tragic, I'm not going to lie, but it's a story you won't forget, and along the way, Jackson does impart quite a bit of cat behaviorist lore, in addition to telling a compelling story. One neat thing about the audiobook in particular, is that the author himself reads it. One warning though is that this book is a very adult book and not suitable for kids. I do highly recommend it though. Like I said, it's an unforgettable story.

For me, it's about a toss up between this one and "A Streetcat Named Bob" as my favorite cat-related novels.

Thanks, Brian. I've been meaning to get this book. And I do so love James' and Bob's story! You can't help but love the cat stories. I subscribe to emails from Jackson and he sent one out about his book! I just haven't had time to get it yet. I tape every episode of My Cat From Hell and have learned so much from him.

I love "A Streetcat Named Bob"! I also love the Dewey and Homer books. I am a sucker for a cat story. I will have to check out Jackson's book, I didn't know he had one out.

I would never find time to listen to an audiobook. As it is, I constantly have to put down anything I'm reading to see what Raiden is crying about. Sometimes it can take me months to get through a book, period! Always appreciate the great information, Brian.

It's actually pretty enjoyable. I listened to it in the car yesterday and this morning. This weekend I plan to play it through my sound system and listen while I do house work and while relaxing outside with my kitties. They love it when I spend time with them out on the patio. I got a couple of the other cat books Brian recommended last year for Christmas presents, but I never actually read them myself. Maybe they will be next up on the audible list.

The author is thankfully quite prolific. I finished book 3 recently.

The "Chicken Soup" ones vary wildly in quality. Some of the stories are touching, others are awful, and some are just misguided.

Dewey and Homer are STILL on my list and they are on my wish list on Amazon. I just haven't placed an order yet. Things are working out great for James and Bob -- I hear they are casting a movie and James is opening up a Cat Cafe in London -- raised a boatload of money for it. Who would have thought a book about a recovering drug addict and a stray cat would have turned into multiple books. Then again, Bob is a very special kitty.

It's kind of a scummy book in that they clearly promote it as a book about a cat, but in reality, that is just a marketing gimmick. The cat plays a really minor role in the book, and what it is REALLY about is dementia. It is about a doctor who treats people with dementia, and all the struggles his patients have, and the struggles their families have, and the struggles the doctor himself has, and about the facility that he works in and so forth. And oh by the way there are cats in the facility and one that visits people just before they die. That's it, that's the book. It is somewhat instructive, and pretty well written, but it's one of the most depressing books that I've ever read. I definitely can't recommended, and consider their marketing efforts sleazy to try to sell this to people who have a soft spot far cats.
