Hi all

I am doing a PhD and looking into psychology of scams, how they work, what scammers are doing to get their victims etc, as scams now basically affect everyone at some point.

I need people who have experienced a scam situation, anything from bad website, dodgy investment, any other scams...but excluding dating scams and identity fraud.
I am looking at improving warnings that are out there. Participation is voluntary and confidential and an interview is likely to last 30 minutes or so, and can be done over the phone.

Attaching my advert, please share if you can. Looking for UK participants at the moment.

Thanks in advance :)

Martina

Hi Martina,

It would be worth you contacting Trading Standards at Portsmouth City Council and asking them about the Rogue Traders they have prosecuted. You may be able to find some willing participants that way. I would help, but I am on the Police side, so it would not be proper for me to discuss cases.
Good Luck!
Jo

Dear Jo

I am actually in London and have emailed every council there is in London and surrounding areas without much luck. I don't want the participants to be coerced so only need someone to tweet or pin my ad on the notice board somewhere as I would like to interview only the ones that really want to talk and feel comfortable to.
Many councils did not even respond. Also big agencies, such as Crime stoppers, Action Fraud...only Think Jessica helped so far. OFT is closed now
It doesn't help that I am excluding vulnerable groups (i.e. the elderly).

Thank you so much for the support none the less.
