Hello we have been on this site for a while now and Jaxx is just about 10 months old. We have have been pondering for a while about a second as a playmate for him, and now a breeder that we have bee waiting for is ready very soon and i am currently going to be off work for a while due to surgery which will give me all day at home so its leaning towards the yes!!:):) we are very excited and just want to here opinions thoughts and anything helpful:) Jaxx is a male and neutered and the cat we would get, or want is a male as well and we also plan on neutering him. We are of course very worried that jaxx would feel upset and or amost abandoned if a new cat came into the house. What if they never get along? jaxx is still not even a year so we hope that him still being a kitten will help. any thoughts would be great thanks:)

You're in the exact same position as me? If only I could be like 'Link I'm getting you a high-energy FRIEND not a replacement!!'

If I get another I'm going to use my bedroom as a safe room again, which was Links. Either me or my Significant other will be sleeping on the bed with new kitty in the safe room and one on the couch or pull out bed with Link until they can be together. I hope this will help show him he is not being replaced or forgotten.

One good tip to do when introducing a new cat to an established territory is to get a blanket with the intruders scent on it and let the home cat get used to their smell. You can also send a blanket with the home cats scent for newby to get used to before even trying to get them together.

That way the smell is known and the introduction is not so threatening. You would still need to safe-room etc, and there are loads of excellent introduction threads on here.

I think it's easier to get them to bond when they are younger. The reason I don't get a second Bengal is because my Raiden is a handful for me -- and I definitely could not handle two of them! LOL.

There is a proper way to introduce them and not just throw them together and see what happens. I think if you do it the proper way, things will work out.

Taking your time introducing cats is really the way to go. Most people want to rush getting them together and it generally adds more drama and stress than necessary. Keeping them separated completely for at least two weeks (so no critters or parasites are transferred or they can be dealt with fully) plus additional time so the cat establishes a relationship with you and both get used to the idea of a new cat makes everything go smoother, in my experience. I also send new kitty back to the safe room when I am at work and at night until everyone can be trusted to behave.

I have six cats and everyone gets along well, so I have been through this process many times. :)

Thanks for all the replies, we have done a lot of studying and i think we should be good to go!! It does and will help that Jaxx' temperament is very mellow in the first place so now i guess time will tell! We are getting another bengal within a coupe months! We Will post pictures when he arrives!

Just a quick update we are going to pick up our bengal boy this weekend!! He has not been sold because he fractured his little paw:( but has recovered great and all his post x-rays look really good. He will be fourteen almost 15 weeks when we get him because the breeder is keeping him for an extra week to be safe! we are very excited and it almost seems as if jaxx knows any ideas for names for this little guy! my girlfriend likes Roo and i like Tio thoughts or suggestions!! thanks for all of the tips and advice this sight is amazing!!!

So Here is our soon to be bengal boy! He will be about 14/15 weeks old when we get him. unfortunately he fractured his paw earlier on and is staying with the breeder an extra little while. we have yet to come up with a name and are open to suggestions!! thanks for all the advice!!

SO AWESOME! He definitely looks like a little wild cat. You can see it in his face and especially in his eyes :) Big congratulations!! So much fun all over again! I hope Jaxx gets along with the new addition soon enough :)
