My boy Franklin keeps destroying his fishing rod toys a day after I get them for him, depending how long he has access to them it could be the same day.

I was wondering if any of you guys in the UK had any advice on a more sturdy and long lasting toy?

i found the pets at home toys only last days. The best wand toy I have is a 'Da Bird' equivalent that I brought from Happy House Cats a few years back.

I dont allow my boys to have free rain on the feather and wand toys - they pluck the feathers too quickly getting them stuck in their mouths and i've seen them get tangled in the string when they've got into the secret hiding place where i keep the wands.

buy bulk supplies and make your own.

If you know any fly fisherman, see if they have fly tying stuff/ vise see if you can use it for a while and get some feathers from a crafts store ,use pipecleaner for the body.

Trellon, which bit is destroyed after only a day or two? We have two Da Bird type wands, one is a single wand and the other comes apart into two pieces. The wands themselves have stood up to months pf play. The toy at the end itself gets destroyed, within maybe 3-4 weeks, but we, like others, put it away at bedtime and bring it out again each evening. We have purchased replacement attachments and just swap them over when they're destroyed. Our vet said it was important to let them destroy it - or it is incredibly frustrating for them.

They have managed to rip the attachment off, and even broke the string once. We just tie it back on and it lasts for another few days.

They love Da Bird so much that it is by far the easiest way to move them. Want them to leave the bedroom? Just pick up Da Bird and walk away with it - instant fan club following the Pied Piper....

Raiden prefers the wand side of the toys. But Da Bird has fallen off the wand more than once and had to be tied back on. So far, he hasn't destroyed any of his toys and he wrestles with quite a few of them.
