Hello I got my kitten on Saturday and have been keeping her in my living room with food water a bed and a litter tray. She has just been hiding in the corner most of the time. Sometimes she will come out then go back in again. And everytime we go up to her she just runs away. She has been eating her food which is great. I know bengals do this when you first get them. Just wanted some advice from people if there kitten done this and how can I make her feel more comfortable .how long does it take for them to get used to everything. And when is it best to let her rom the rest of the house. Thank you for reading. X

I got mine at 6 months old. She hid the first night and was a little skittish the 2nd night. By the 3rd night, she was purring and letting us pet her. We've had her for 2 months now and she is totally in the middle of everything. We have 4 dogs and another kitten and they all hang out together now.

For a week Link was under the bed and wouldn't come out for anything. I think after day 6 he was adventurous and now at like 4 weeks he wants to be part of everything I'm doing lol.

Gotta make her know you trust her for her to trust you, try crawling under the bed and just laying with her, far away and don't try to touch her if she runs, she'll come to you eventually :]

Thank you your replys. After I posted this she came out and was playimg for the first time :) think thats her slowly coming out her shell. Im so delighted. Bengals are just amazing :)

We had the exact same thing happen with jax. he had a "safe zone" to stay in and all we did was make him feel comfortable without to much pressure on him. it took him a good four days for him to come out free and explore without feeling like he had to run back to his safe zone. just make him feel like he can do what he wants to do without a worry and give it time!

Glad to hear your kitty is starting to come out. It's a huge adjustment for a kitten -- a whole new environment and people to get used to. It just takes time and you need to let them go at their own pace. I know the one thing you want to do is just pick up the kitty and bond with it -- but you really have to let the kitty make the first move.

Yeah i did that and now shes so much better. Been playing and sleeping on lap so cute :)
