Okay so I have a Catit water fountain thing and they both love shoving their paws down the hole, playing with the water in general, standing on it and the list goes on!

They do drink from it tho!

But.... It's more of a splash zone than anything else. The carpet is getting saturated, so is the furniture and walls! I do have a matt underneath it but this doesn't do anything lol! The water goes everywhere!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can possibly reduce the mass of water ending up over everything?

This may be hard as daisy will stick her head and even go under a running tap she LOVES water and takes it to another level haha

Place the fountain in a larger, shallow bowl to that the splashes are caught -- or rectangular cookie sheet. I have a fountain for my kitty and he does put is paw in it, but it's out in his enclosure and if he splashes water all over, it's okay. I won't put it inside the house for the very reason you're asking this question. Mine does love to play in his water bowl, but I got a Neater Feeder and now my floor stays dry.

It's not just 'splashes' I'm talking water travelling over 1ft from the water fountain!

My cat does this too. She actually makes quite an impressive mess with it. Thankfully it isn't an every day activity, only every now and then when the mood strikes her. She does spend a good portion of her day in the kitchen sink though...

I have her fountain on the kitchen counter. It has it's own section of the counter so the counter and the wall are the only things that really get soaked, besides herself of course:rolleyes: The counter and the wall are easy enough to dry off.

Could you maybe move the fountain away from furniture and carpet? Maybe find a place on ceramic or tile of some sort, where it isn't going to be soaking anything that can absorb water. That is the only solution that I can think of. Placing the fountain in another bowl or tray just sounds like a challenge for the cat to take on, and from my experience Bengals take a challenge very seriously.

It's a multiple times a day activity for one of them (daisy) haha. As she gets older she gets more obsessed with water I swear!

Got no hard floors to put it on! The one thing I've thought of is getting one of those mats that you put office chairs on to stop the chair from marking the floor. Hoping that will stop the carpet getting so wet.

It is kinda funny tho especially since she sat in a pool of water the other evening and it looked like she wee'd herself haha

I have 3 fountains in various rooms. Mostly on hard floors but one in the kitten room on carpet. I place all of mine on a tray and this catches most spills. Though the kittens knocked some paper on top of theirs which funnelled all the water onto the floor

Mostly though, all my cats do is drink from them. I don't have any 'water players'.

Ah...the one I have is battery operated.

Side question - are there no outlets in bathrooms in the UK? How do you use a blow dryer or shaver in the bathroom? Or is the plug different for a fountain? I have only spent a few days in London...not long enough to think about things like outlets!

Okay uk plugs are 3 pin and 240v. We do have 'shaver sockets' in some bathrooms (we don't in ours, guess it's down to preference) shaver sockets are 2 pin however and are generally dual (2 sockets) one being 230v the other 115v

Travelling to Europe is fine, going to America is a pain! You have to make sure what you take is dual voltage otherwise it won't work as our voltage is much higher

By the way what make is your water fountain? How long do the batteries last? I want one haha

Forget about the cat fountain. It is unhygienic if your cat is going to splash in it and you don't then change the water.
When I had one, I found the water got warm as well and the filters will not be able to do much to get rid of the bugs introduced by your cats feet.
Basically it ends up a warm soup perfect for bugs to grow in.
Most people do not change the water regularly enough to provide healthy clean drinking water for their cat, it needs changed at least daily and more often if contaminated with feet or fur.

So much better to use the heavy dog bowls, that can be changed easily and frequently to provide a clean water supply.
