Tia has calmed down quite a bit, she now sniff's at Diego through the mesh
watches him for a little while and then walks away, almost as if she was bored of him.
So my next question is when do i introduce them properly, when will i know
it's the right time, Tia has stopped growling and hissing at him, and that is a huge improvment on her behaviour Friday, she is even allowing us to fuss her when she is near him, when on Friday she growled and attacked us.
What is the best way to introduce them, at the moment the only thing between them is wire mesh, i was thinking about taking Diego into the lounge sitting him on my lap, and letting Tia investigate him, that way he will be with me and to a certain degree protected if she decided to be nasty.
What do you think hear on the forum, any comments will be really appreciated.

Have sent you the link so hopefully you will get some good advice from that. I wouldn't sit with Diego on your lap (understand why you want to do it) - I would do it the other way round so you can reassure Tia as Diego investigates. Tia has had you for a while now and I think doing it this way will limit jealousy.

The other thing is that I would only introduce them for short periods initially (and stand by with a set of keys you can drop in the event it does get a bit frantic!!!).

In terms of timing - I really think you need to be the judge of that - maybe leave it another couple of days to ensure Tia really is calm?

Have you got a feliway plug-in? I've found this really helps all 4 of my babies (especially my moggie stitch who can get a bit stressed with my bengal babies). The vet should be able to supply ou with one.

Sounds like a good idea Nikki.....you can't keep them apart forever!

They'll get used to each in the end.

I know it probably sounds like they want to kill each other at the moment, but they will adapt to each other given time.

Without being there its hard to say what the best move would be.....normally when you introduce a new cat/kitten into the household you would expect hissing, growling, boxing etc etc from both parties (more so from the existing cat). But even if you left them to it, they wouldn't really harm each other that much......one would run off somewhere before that happened to a safe spot somewhere in the house.

Eventually they will tolerate each other.....obviously try to be there at all times when they meet, but be there as a authority figure. They may be your babies but you have to let them know who's the boss.....raise your voice if you have to.....let them know you won't have it! (works for ours when a fight kicks off).
