Erm - I would bath him, or at very least rub a wet flannel on him. He'll hate you for it but it will reduce the smell.
Poor thing - hope he's ok. Good luck getting the smell out of your car - get a good enzyme killer on it quick otherwise that will come and haunt you on the hotter days.

My sister has a bengal cross who also managed to break the zips on his carrier when we were coming home from the cattery & kennels the other week, absolute mayhem as they also had their Pointer puppy in the car and Bruce (the cat) was climbing all over him meowing while he was howling

I think i would also probably try to wipe him down with a damp cloth. Not sure that i would be brave enough to give a full bath! Hope he gets rid of his stink soon!

Reminds me of the time I took Maddie our Grey British Short hair the Vets a couple of months back. I didn't want to freak her out to much by getting the pet carrier out too soon, but in hind sight if I had of left it around for a while she may have gone for a pooh before me wrestling her into the carrier. Half way to the vets the smell of pooh starts wafting around the car and I'm left wondering what to do. I wasn't in a place where I could open the carrier so I waited until we arrived at the vets (holding our noses the whole way) and then ushered her out of the basket and on to the back seat of my car.

Eventually I managed to let her out in the back of my car, remove the towel, but as I did that the pooh feel out on to the car park floor right outside my car. I ushered her back into the box so I could take her in, then sheepishly asked the vet if they had a carrier bag I could use to pick up the pooh from her car park. Luckily I had a hard carry case so no pooh got on the car seat.

Poor baby! Hope he's OK after his trauma!

Get a new chamoise leather, and give him a really good rub over with it slightly damp - The leather will stimulate the natural oils in his coat, and leave him smelling of leather for a while. Also works after vet trips if you have multiple cats - just rub them all over with it, then they all smell lovely!

Wipe him down with a damp, warm washcloth. If a cat i unhappy eough with their stench, they will happily let you do it.

One time one of mine peed in the (hard) carrier on the way home from his neuter. He was so mad he flug the pee at me through the carrier door the whole way home. Funny now, I was so...I don't even know what the word is...at the time!
