Quasar rarely purrs. When he does, the only way I know is by feeling the vibration.
Occasionally, he will make a huffing sound with his purr but I am not sure if the two are interrelated.
I have had several DSHs over the years and they all purred.
Do others have Bengals who do not purr? Is this a Bengal trait or just something I have never seen in a DSH?

My childhood cat (tabby) purred like a motor boat, unfortunately my girl doesn't purr much and when she does I feel it more than hear it, same as you describe.

Ours both purr so loud that you can hear them from across the room.
Faust wheezes sometimes because he's purring so hard... just for a few moments.
Max gets going the minute we walk in the door, with tail whipping so fast that his butt almost tips him over.

I can't imagine having a cat that doesn't purr loud enough to hear. I love my rumbly boys.

Archie sounds like a motor boat when he purrs, he is so loud and just keeps purring for a very long time.

He purrs the most when my wife is in the bath, and he is sitting on the edge of the tub, whacking the water with his paws.

Mine both purr, rather loudly.

My 2 also both purr...... My boy is louder than my girl...... ALOT louder!!!

They also both feel like washing machines on fast spin!!!!

Oddly enough Jasper, which I call Purr doesn't purr really loud he has to be sitting on me for me to feel it! BB on the other hand will vibrate the windows!! My two year old says Mama do you hear BB's motor!!! It's hilarious! All you have to do is look at her and she starts!!!

Benji has a very quiet purr, usually associated with a heat source.

......my lap, the fire (which he stares at in a pointed way!) when he crawls into my bed and settles down (usually after biting me!)

Raiden has a gentle purr, but if you give him a massage, he will purr really, really loud.

Lily only purs if I rest one hand on her tummy while scratching her head/neck with the other.
It's difficult to get her to purr tbh =/

Thank you, everyone, for your input. I have come to the conclusion that I simply have a cat of the purr-less variety. It seems this condition occurs in pretty much all cat breeds. I just got curious, Quasar being my first cat who does not purr.

Keto does the same as Quasar, you only know he's purring if you put you head to his chest. He makes little moany noises when he's enjoying a really good stroke.
Pucky is my 8 mnth old kitten and she purrs loudly in most situations. The funniest is when she's eating and purring. She really enjoys her food lol.

Yuki purrs VERY loudly pretty much all of the time, she is very rarely silent. I do love it though!

While my twins purr loudly (they're snowshoe-meezer / tiger mixes), Tucker didn't purr for a very long time. In fact, it's only within the past year that he began purring, at least to my knowledge. :)
