Daisy just a few days off being 7 months old has gone from eating 1 and a bit pouches of food - grazing to scoffing down pouches and after 4 today is still crying for more.

I took her to the vets last week who said it wasn't a bad thing when I mentioned it to him but its just getting worse and worse to the point she ALWAYS wants food.

This has happened about a week or so after being spayed. But my gut feeling is, this is something else. I feel bad going to the vets now as I'm 99% sure they think I'm just a paranoid owner but its not right to see this much of a change in the demand for food in just under a week right?

Am I being paranoid and this is normal? Or should I be slightly concerned that there could be some underlying issue?

She doesn't like dry food! :/

It's down but she doesn't touch it, I'm all for feeding them when they want feeding but the concern is going from wanting 1 and a half pouches to 4 isn't enough

Just thought i would let you know that i myself asked this question a few days ago!!

Shay is 5 months old and doing exactly the same thing!! He is up and inside the fridge as soon as it opens everytime....... and will eat everything you give him too!!!

Im told to "feed to appetite" as he is growing, and should self limit again when the growth spurt is over!!!

It sounds like she needs more food!

Benji is eight now and will eat from 3 to 5 pouches of food per day plus dry (small amount only) and he is not a big cat.

Quasar is 16 months old now and eats between 4-8 ounces daily of raw food, depending on which type of meat he is getting, Fussy Buggar! He weighs just over 12 lbs.

When he was growing, the amount he ate varied from 6 - 12 ounces of raw food, depending on how fast he was growing. I just let him have as much as he wanted. He never went for the dry food either. At first, I kept the dry that the breeder sent him with out in his feeding area but he never took any. I finally fed it to the dog, who will eat (literally) anything, and have stuck with raw food ever since.

Your kitty is a growing babe. Feed as much as she will eat.

Ok so what if I put it like this

She's asking for more food eating it all yet is not putting on weight if anything has lost some.

If the vet saw her last week and said it was not a bad thing that she was eating more I would be thinking that the vet thinks she is underweight for her size.

How do you know she is losing weight? Was she weighed at the vets last week?

So long as she is pooping ok and looks well I would give her what she will eat.

If you are still concerned I would take her back to be checked again (and talk to the vet more specifically about your concerns.)

Since taking her to the vets last week her demand for food has increased even more. She was weighed last week weighing 2.99kg and yesterday she was 2.90kg now I know it's a minimal amount but when her food intake has more than doubled I would expect to see a gain of that amount not a loss.

I think I'll call the vet tomorrow, he seems to be pretty understanding that I hate being a paranoid owner after all that's gone on with Lilly I think he understands why I am. Especially since there's a major concern over Lilly still developing pancreatic due to steroids, weight gain and weight loss and her lack of appetite - she is the complete opposite to daisy, won't eat wet food only dry and is barely eating 35g of dry food a day :/

Yes, that is a negligible weight loss.
Daisy will eat a lot of food and possibly see minimal gain, if any because the work of her metabolism is consuming a lot of calories. You may find her lean for a long time, even though she is eating like a horse. If anything, I would feed as much as she will eat just so she CAN gain weight, not just keep what she already has. She is more putting on frame at this time, versus bulk.

Was she weighed at the vets and the second weight at home?

This can account for a difference, different scales weigh slightly different.

As said above about building blocks for growth.

Anyways I spoke to the vets today, I have to take her in later today for some blood tests.

I know what everyone is trying to say, feed her as much as she wants, she's growing, etc etc etc. I understand that, do not get me wrong, but she's eating a bowl of food, then asking for more, instantly. She will settle for a bit after i leave for work, my mums at home all the time as she's disabled, where my mum used to get up and go make herself a cup of tea and daisy used to stay settled, daisy is now stuck to her asking her for food, unfortunately tho, my mum cant feed her. When I go home about midday, I feed daisy again. Then she gets fed again at 6 and again at 10.

She used to sleep quite a bit during the day, but any movement in the house and she's up asking for food. It's such a dramatic difference, the quite little kitten is turning into this talkative demanding kitten. Everyone in the house has noticed it and are querying if she has worms as what's shes displaying is what they've experienced before, but those where with outdoor cats, and lilly and daisy aren't.

We shall see if the vet finds anything.

To be honest. I would have been concerned about a kitten sleeping all the time. She certainly was not eating enough originally.

Hope you get some answers and the ordeal does not stress her out too much.
