I got a new cat today a 9 month old bengal

She has been under the passenger seat of my cat for three hours
She is very scared and not settled in and she went under the passenger seat and won't come out
I have tried pulling her out, she won't budge. I have tried bribing her with food, different kind of food and she ignores everything. I've left her alone for an hour and she still won't come out.

It's getting late and I can't leave her in there overnight how do I get her out!!!!!?

You obviously got her out, judging by your other post, however in the future please do not transport either of your cats unless they are in a cat carrier. You're asking for trouble and it's really dangerous for both yourself and the cats.

I don't think this lady needs scolding about the cat out of the carrier. Some cats do fine out of them, dogs do it all the time.

Hopefully you got your cat out by now. If not, if you can't reach in and grab her out, maybe you could use something to push her out. If she was in a carrier, place it in front of the seat and she might go in it. My cat slept in that the first few nights home when I kept her in the bathroom. Maybe leave some food there too. And stay with her in the car, good luck!

"Dogs do it all the time" ??? Dogs should travel in a suitably sized carrier or cage. Or at the very least one of the harnesses you can strap a seat belt to. Cats should be in a carrier, full stop, no ifs no buts. Driving while using a mobile is illegal, so should having an unrestrained animal be. It is putting the animals life at risk as well as any passengers and other road users. The cat doesn't even need to act out, in the moment of glancing to check if the animal is ok you crash, or hit someone etc.

geez guys calm down i didn't let her out whilst i was driving, i let her out when i stopped i don't know why but i did

anyway she got out and is fine now

so much criticism on this forum....

i let ailura out of the cage, i never put her in her cage because she is very angry when she's in the cage, she likes to sit up the back and sun bake whilst we are driving. i prefer it that was, its less distracting that howling the whole drive.

obviously there is a risk but theres a risk for everything you do. so don't harass me about that

Thats just great to let her sunbake rather than be safe in the car.

If you run into something and Ailura is behind you, she will break your neck and probably die herself, but if you are happy to take that risk instead of making sure you both survive relatively well it's your choice.

Personally I value Benji far more and he is safely in his cage which is secured on the front seat next to me with the seat belt.He settles down quickly as he can see me and out of the car.

When we used to bring our old cat back from the vets or the cattery she would know when she had nearly reached home and would get mega excited. We have a long private drive and would let her out of the carry cage when we turned into our own property - until one time that she managed to press the electric window button and wind the window down....

Can you imagine if your driving and they do that? They could fall out of the car - they'd be lost forever.
Accidents, even minor ones create massive energy movements and your cat will fly through the car - injuring themselves, you - maybe even killing themselves. Its too much of a risk. Both my boys are placed in their own carrycases, put on the back seat and the seatbelts strapped around and through the handle of each cage - it will not move.

There was a nasty car accident near my house, the poor guy was taking his cat to the vets for his yearly check up and someone crashed into him, it wrecked the car, the impact was so severe the carrycase was damaged and the cat got loose - he ran off and was only found 3 weeks later. A massive amount of flyers, newspaper articles and searches found him to be reunited with his owner. He had no injures from the accident - it would have been very different if he hadn't been in his carrycase.

So so true - we have the entire of our estate boot enclosed with fitted guards - and a tail-gate - it was put in for the dogs we have so they could travel safely. But we also use it to transport the cats - they go into their carriers & then into the secured boot - we don't have them on the back seat in carriers....but if for any reason they ever are the seat belt is put through the handle of the carrier and they are fully strapped down.

Although my two travel in carriers, I can sympathise with the let them out group.

When I went to visit my parents for Christmas, Ella screamed for the whole of the 4 1/2 hour journey. She thrashed against the carrier, tried digging up the floor, sticking her paw through the bars and could not calm down at all.....

If I'd had someone else in the car with me who could restrain her securely on the back seat it would have been significantly less distracting and cause a lot less stress to her (and me the driver).

If she really doesn't like the carrier, try placing it somewhere she goes a lot (or, in the safe room, if you're keeping her in one). You can even put treats in it to entice her to explore it.
I just got my kitty a few days ago too, and she was crying on the way back as well. At first she seemed to dislike the carrier when I put it in her room (she jumped right out of it the moment i unzipped the front haha), but now, after a few days of rubbing up against it and finding the treats and toys i place inside, she loves curling up inside the carrier. I even tried zipping her up in it and walking, and she was so much better about it compared to the day I carried her home.
