Hello, I've recently discovered this forum and am amazed at the amount of knowledge gathered in one place. I own a Siamese as well as a Bengal and was wondering if someone could point me to a Siamese specific forum that is at least half as interesting as this one? I'm a big believer in reading as much as possible about a subject so if we're out of luck on forum front maybe someone could recommend a good book or two about them?

Thanks in advance

If you manage to find one let me know  I too have searched and come up dry. Here's a reason why it's unlikely to find one though: the breed's (un)popularity. TICA used to post their registration statistics on their website (doesn't look like they are anymore), but what it showed in 2011, 2010 was that the bengal breed was more popular than the next two put together (which was I think the Persian and Ragdoll?) and that the Siamese wasn't in the top 5. There doesn't even seem to be a single siamese or oriental breeder in the state of Oregon where I live! While there are literally dozens of bengal breeders.

Wow I always assumed Siamese would be quite popular. Makes sense though as normally it's not too difficult to find info on the interwebs but no such luck so far. I've been searching for yet another unpopular breed the Sphynx for a couple years now and every time I seem to find Siamese or Devon Rex breeders who used to have them but don't anymore - that's why I went with a Siamese and never looked back.

I notice you are in the UK. The GCCF will be where most of the Siamese are registered here and the are a VERY popular breed here. You only have to look at the cat shows. Siamese have far more representation than some other breeds.

All that said. There are no Siamese forums that I know of. I breed Tonkinese and there are none of them either. Not sure if it has more to do with the usual owners of the cats. They appeal to different people usually. I have noticed that the Bengal world is very much, 'bengals are the best cats, I wouldn't want another type'. Whereas I am not sure other breed followers have the same ideas as such.

Tonkinese are gorgeous as well! There are so many breeds I'd love to have. Sphynx/Devon Rex/Exotic Shorthair... so many...

Burmese + Siamese = Tonkinese

A breed in their own right now but originally a hybrid of two breeds like bengals. Aslo like bengals, they cannot be shown until they are 4 generations down the line. Not called F1 F2 F3 F4 but it's the same thing.

Come to the Coventry and Leicester show 23/2/13 and you might be able to see a Tonkinese kitten

I breed Tonkinese (same as lollo) and am working with some first generation Tonks to broaden the gene pool. The Siamese used in my F1 stud and my F1 queen are both old-style Siamese(not appleheads). They are broader in the face, smaller rounded ears and chunkier in the body and, to my mind, much healthier that the modern look Siamese.

Awwwwwww how gorgeous. A blue, I think.

Sue we are thinking about adding a Burmese or Siamese queen to our house. Waiting to see about the GCCF rules on imports in the Burmese section. Needs lots more research.

Yup, blue point. Gorgeous cat. The effect of having multiple champions in his bloodline :) We're very proud. He's also very well mannered. We had no issues with him at all since we got him, he was shy for maybe a couple hours and then just sat on our knees the whole time. He's also really vocal and chats with you at any given opportunity, especially if he's being told off...
