Hello all,

I am new here and wanted to say a quick hello. I also wanted to say thank you for all the great discussions regarding Bengals. It has been infiniatly helpful in preparing for recieving my 2 young ones in the coming weeks. I was hopeing that someone could tell me if I had found good pets. I am the proud adopter of the first litter from a new breeder and was just interested to know if paying 1600 dollars for the pair of a brother and sister was common.

You have just entered the world of Bengal ADDICTION (smile)

I don't know who the breeder is, and that is immaterial to my comments.

These kittens have BEAUTIFUL colors, and their patterns are to DIE for! Obviously the darker boy has the FLASHY high contrast open rosettes which will only become more beautiful and striking, as he matures.

I would expect the lighter girl, to get a little darker too, and the difference in their color and patterns will be a DELIGHT, also, as they mature.

My "sister" pair look so much alike, I sometimes have a hard time telling them apart, even at 3 years old, unless they are looking directly at me. (one has a pinker nose, while the other has a dark nose) While my "brother/sister" pair look VERY different both in coloring, pattern, their HEADS, and the way they carry themselves. (Their gait when they walk, run or jump, is even different.)

The kittens you are getting LOOK healthy with good bone structure and nice coats. And they appear very playful. Get them a climbing tree and lots of toys! (Particularly interactive toys, so you can join in their games, which will help them bond to you more quickly.)

You will be SO GLAD you got a sibling pair. (I have two sibling pairs, amid my mid-size PET ZOO) They do tend to stay bonded, throughout their lives, and it is wonderful to watch their interaction both in play and their love for one another. And, if you have other cats, the siblings will usually watch out for one another.

In the "head shot" of the boy, the ONLY mildly negative comment I might have, is that his ears are a little big and pointy -- but CERTAINLY not enough to detract from his overall beauty. He does have very good face pattern, and great whisker pads and chin (this should MORE than outweigh the slightly large ears, even if you choose to show them.

Since I have one F1 boy, I now tend to LOOK for the more rounded, smaller ears.

They both have nice thick tails, wonderfully random patterns and pretty faces.

The only other thing I really "watch" for, is the profile, which I can't see clearly in these photos. Normally the straighter the profile, the better, but that CAN be a matter of personal taste. I've seen many early generation Bengals with a little dip in the profile. (Even though my F1 boy has a board straight profile, which I personally like.)

As far as the PRICE you paid for these kittens... you did VERY WELL !!! The breeder could probably have gotten between 1100 and 1700 for the ONE boy, with open rosettes, alone. And, if they had sold him as a breeder, possibly even MORE than 2000 for him, alone. And EASILY 700 or more, for the girl, pet price.

You should HUG this breeder when you go to pick the kittens up. (smile)

I think you will be DELIGHTED with this pair, and they will give you great joy, for YEARS to come!

Thank you for your feedback. I have actually visted your blog (I spent a good week here reading as much as I could before deciding to post,) and love your brood from afar. They look like so much fun. I can only hope that my young one's have as much personality as yours.

I am still working up names, luckily they have yet to be delivered as I am moving. So we will all be settling in to a new life together. I will just see who they are and go down the list (favorite for the guy so far though is Loki.)

If you can't tell I am excited and have been soaking in all the information I can before they arrive. My mother used to Breed Persian/himalyans for many years. However, I never paid close enough arttention to the process of aclimation, feeding and such. So for me it is pretty much all new again. Yay, It's an adventure!!

Anyway, thanks again, I will most likely be back asking for advice again in the future.

You will be so glad you got a brother and sister, our bengals are brother and sister and are totally inseperably, you have prob seen some of the pictures of them in the gallery thread. They also make great play mates, as they really are a very energetic breed.

Well they finally came home with me yestderday. It was quite an eventful day and evening for these two. After the 45 minute drive they were all tuckered out from mewing. So they had a little nap. As soon as they awoke it was off to expore thier new surroundings and be spoiled.

I quickly set up everything I could as picking them up came as much of a surprise to me as it did to them. It was impromptue based on the fact that I happen to be near the catery yesterday and didnt want to drive back that way again soon.

Sooo, they mangled thier first peacock feather in about 2 minutes flat. That was money well spent. Then proceded to kill the blue feather toy. They learned to climb to the first tier of the cat tree I got them. And eventually figured out where the food and bathroom were as well as how to drink from the running water bowl.

It was a big night for those two that's for sure. Luckily they lived up to the names we had temporarily thought of. The boy has become known as Loki, and the girl is officially Kali.
