Anyone here had any experience with this breed?

I think a second bengal might be a bit much for my OH (boo), but have been looking into these beauties!

My mum's is norweign forest, big old kitties and beautiful but take a lot of looking after with their pelt. They are double coated and shred their hair A LOT!

They are lovely and adoring cats but make no mistake, they WILL smack down when needed. Personally, if you have a typical hyper bengal, I'm not too sure this would be a breed to pair up with. They are playful and they take something like 3-4 years to mature but they do like their chill time. If the NFC is to be taken from my parent's boy, he is a big tease, a big softie in general and does put up with a lot but he's now 15 and going on strong. They have good genes, naturally selected breed, which goes in their favor I would assume.

I'm still not keen on adding a NCF with a younger bengal, doesn't sit right with me.

If you like the long hair type, how about a maine coon? or an american bobtail?

Pretty sure the maine coon has a relation to the NFC though

The breeder we went to visit at the weekend has main coons, I nearly came back with 1 instead of a bengal. I didn't realise how gorgeous they actually are. And if you want a cuddly cat they're great for that. Sat down for 5mins and both my OH and I had kittys asleep on our laps!!

A friend of mine has 2 maine coones and they are snuggly kitties, with the added high energy level (the NFC also has a high active level). But I think a maine coone is more compatible than the NFC.

It's funny though, my parent's NFC loves being outside, you couldn't keep him in, if you tried! Especially when it snows, he loves pouncing about outside. My parents had to get rid of their pound about 6-7yrs ago, as he would fish in it. And once all the fishies had gone, he would wade around in it

They have his coat trimmed every few months, just to help with grooming. Summer he looks like a medium haired kitty

He adores my dad, safe to say the feeling is not mutual in that respect when my dad is sitting down, Jack will perch up next to him and put his paw on his arm. His way of saying stroke me and he'll keep on doing it until you give in and cuddle him. The longest he did this for was around 30 mins, before my dad gave in. I think NFC's are strong willed lol

The one thing they have an issue with is food. Can't give him wet food as it gives him a bad tummy, so he has kibble and raw. Not sure if it's a breed thing but worth looking into. They spent about 18 months of trying him out on different stuff, had him wormed and tested but nothing. Seemed to have a food issue.

Just been looking into Maine Coons, they are beautiful!

have a look at ragdolls and turkish vans, they would be more suited to a bengal.

Plus a ragdoll is sooooo cute when you pick it up, goes all floppy

Siberians are like NFC's in the sense that they are also a natural breed.

A friend of mine has a Norwegian Forest Cat and he's bonkers
We are constantly amusing each other with tales of hyper cats and madness.
Hers seems to be pretty high energy, but yes, he does shed a lot and requires regular grooming.

the shedding/grooming thing wouldn't bother me in the slightest but might my OH. Eric's gorgeous marble brother is still looking for a forever home, I've been trying to persuade the OH since we first went to visit Eric that we should have this boy too but so far no luck!!!

tbh you might aswell tell your OH that you will have to find a kitty with the same energy levels as a bengal, so you might as well stick to what you know and hey presto! his brother needs a forever home.................perfect!

I think it was just the culmination of around 10 months of persistance. I've loved this little boy ever since I went to meet Eric for the first time. I had another round of wheedling and begging today, I think he just cracked under the pressure Bless him!
