The oldest bengal you know.

People often are asking, how old do bengals live? Oldest bengals here in Finland are about 11 years old. Oldest and first imports too. Oldest I personally know is Laras great grand father IndiaInk Samson of SiruCats who is extreemly playfull and perfectly healthy gentleman.

Good question - i think the average age is around 12 for a Bengal, but they can go on a bit longer, perhaps up to 16 years of age. Or they can, of course, have a shorter life, as with any other breed.
I'm also guessing the average age would come down depending on whether your Bengal is allowed outside, or not?
I don't personally know a Bengal over the age of 2.

rosie & barrie alger-street of typhast bengals have a 16-yr old.

his name is storm & he was one of the first snow spotted bengals in the U.K. i've had the pleasure of meeting him & he is still very spritely, loving & playful. he does look old but only in the fact that his coat isn't as smooth & glossy as younger cats. he is allowed outside but they have a large plot & he stays around the house.

i think it's the same as any breed as pauline said, the expected age will vary considering different factors.

I think when any health issues have been bred out which takes 100+ generations, then the Bengals life expectancy will increase :wink:

That surprised me a little...

I mean, the average life expectancy of cats is around 12, but if no disease etc that can go up to 16-20 years old ! (Today I had somebody asking me "because my cat is 18 and I never had such an old cat and he's still fine"...)

So Bengals would have a shorter life expenctency than moggies ?
