Hello guys, I would love some advice from you. We have been talking about letting our two cats out (Bengal male and Toyger female). We are moving home so at the moment it's just talking as we won't do it until this house is sold and we're in a bigger house. As this house is very close to main roads, has dogs walking around without owners and general people who would steal the pair we haven't let them out. I take them out the back garden on a harness and lead and they love it!!

We don't really wanna build a cat run/large cage as it would ruin the garden and ruin it for us. It would generally be just another room they can go in and then again they still can't really go in the garden. We were thinking of cat proofing the whole garden and have read up a bit about the poles on the fences etc..

Have any of you guys done this at all? Would love photos and advice! Hayley x

I am going to get 'Katzecure' in my garden next year. They have been to quote me  and so now i need to sort out exactly what i'm going to have done. They look so much better than teh other systems and are very professional. I know other breeders that have this system and it is really good.

That's the system we were looking at. I was worried they'd somehow be able to pass it and get out - or worse another animal can get in like another cat and then their stuck in the garden. Katzecure looks very expensive but I'd pay it! I bet your quote was expensive

I have a fairly largish garden with trees and a shed that would need special attention and the post was over £3K

I was told that it is hard to get into as well as out of.

wow!!!! that is A LOT of money I was expecting a grand but 3 grand!

The cats are most definitely worth it though, spesh if it means I can let them out and not have to worry

I'd love to see photos once it's done!

hiya,

That looks like a good system, and at 3k for a big garden not awfully expensive....when you consider materials, travel, man hours and planning.

I looked at doing a fence system, but my garden is just too awkward and the plants/ trees too established.

I guess Mindy's enclosure cost around £1200 for all of the materials and a tool or two to complete the job.

I'm guessing a couple of experienced carpenters could have done the job in 2 days, it took me 6, 3 weekends. So you have to take their hours into consideration.

I am a very much more relaxed Bengal Dad than I was before, so the money means nothing.

Davie

Hello

bringing this thread up.
anyone has completed with Katzsecure ?
do they still operate, anyone knows? I have been trying to get in touch with them for the past 2-3 days - no call back, nothing.. ((
Looking to 100% cat proof my garden at the moment. Little monkeys figured out our current system (which was just a net at 45 degrees) and climbing over it very confident now. I need something more secure and complex so it will last a while

Please let us know if anyone has installed Katzsecure and it works in their garden

many thanks !

I have had lots of kitten owners have this system and they love it! Also another system which is more like wire on brackets? Also good.

Had a few people do diy and they sent me some pics it looks amazing, did it all themselves and cats are safe in the garden! Going to do my garden when we move, so excited!!

We looked at quite a few of the sites mentioned on this thread for ideas when thinking about cat proofing our garden, but my DH is a bit of a DIY freak, so he wanted to make his own version.

We finished the work at the weekend, and I've posted some pictures below. The netting is secured to the top of the fence with a thin piece of wood so there's no chance of anyone sneaking underneath and it is attached to the brackets/wire with literally hundreds of cable ties (my fingers were raw by the end of it!).

We have four moggies, and only one of them has managed to escape, his nickname has always been Houdini, so at the moment we're still in "test run" stage, he's showing us the weak spots and we are fixing them. We think we've finally cracked it now though because he's not got out for a couple of days.

Our Bengal, Saffie, who is 8 months, is loving her time outside - she only goes out while we are outside at the moment, and it has calmed her down a lot because she is quite tired by the end of the day and I find that she comes on to my lap to sleep more than she ever has.

Sorry that the pictures are so huge, it's taken me ages to work out out to even get them there, I will work on making them smaller

Katzecure definitely still operate as I see them at cat shows.

I will get it installed this year after an extension is built.

By the way, the quote included installation but they can quote for it without their installation service.

Oh that is brill!

We have looked up this, don't know if anyone has heard of it? ITs a fence and it is 'cat proof' its made so that cats cant grip so just basically slip off of it! it isn't made of wood, it was in your cat magazine last year and I think it looks really nice its this:

http://www.colourfence.co.uk/home.php

We have decided that we may do this when we move, but obviously the cheaper option is diy brackets, katsecure more expensive but more well known (def still going they were at a show today with loads of pics) the KS does look good those roller things, I wonder if I can make them myself?? Hmmm lol!

I found a local fencing company, told them what I wanted and they drew up a design. A bit like the above netting but they used a wooden lattice, instead of netting.

It works but tommy does tend to go on a mission impossible and gets over it. By that, I mean he actually hangs, he comes back though. Rori, she's content just sitting in the sun. I've put the cat trees outside, she's happy to have them, sun bathe etc.
