Hi all,
A bit of advice please! I know that Bengals love water in general but in particular I understand that they prefer to drink from a running water supply rather than a normal bowl.

What do people use for their cats? I have seen two possibilities - either the Catit fountain (for example see http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp? ... pf_id=4193) or this one http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp? ... pf_id=3249

Has anyone used either or do you have a preferred option for watering?!

Thanks in advance

Teresa (still at the planning stages for kittens but gradually filling garage with equipment  )

We have the Fresh Flow one, the Bengals love it, I'm amazed sometimes how much they can drink in one go!

I had one of the "fresh flow" ones, too. My DSH rescue cats LOVED it.
My first FOUR Bengals loved it, too, but tended to "drown" their toys in it, making a mess of the filtration system.

Once again... MISTER "things are going to be MY way" Zenith (my F1 Bengal) Decided he still prefers my kitchen sink or tub faucets to drink from. He will even drink from the stainless steel BOWLS I provide, now...

BUT -- he decided he didn't like the way the fresh flow PLASTIC smelled, so he proceeded to PEE in it. After cleaning and changing filters several times, I gave up, and now let the tub "drip" for them. (sigh)

All seem to be satisfied with that arrangement, except my "heart patient" kitty, Casper - who still won't get in the tub to drink, so I keep a stainless steel bowl, filled for him, which I occasionally see the others drink from.

And I do NOT consider that to be a reason to rehome Zenith -- he IS my little lover-boy, and I have learned from several other Early Generation owners, they do seem to think PLASTIC should be peed upon, so I try to keep all plastic containers and shopping bags put away, now. (grin)

What we DO to keep peace and tranquility in our homes for our most precious home residents -- our BENGALS! (grin)

My little monster will only drink Filtered water.....not standard tap water.

But, given teh choice of a bowl of filtered water, and a pint-glass of filtered water.....she chooses the pint glass EVERY time. Especially if I've just put it on the table in front of me..

oh, she's also partial to Vimto & Ribena out of a pint glass too.....

I think I must be an appalling owner as I let Lyra and the dog share the same water bowl.
It is very clean as the dog drinks so much it is washed and refreshed at least 4xdaily.
I also fill a basin with water and floaty toys - plastic straws, ping pong balls etc - and leave it in the bath every day for Lyra to fish in. I haven't seen her drinking this water in preference to the shared water bowl
But now I am a bit worried I could be asking for health problems in having dog and cat share a water bowl?
They are both wormed etc regularly.

I wouldn't worry about the dog & cat sharing bowls...as you say it's washed and changed regularly.

Our girls have access to an outdoor run during the day and will think nothing of drinking out of the puddles of rainwater on the floor!

We do have to keep the lid down on the loo though as I caught one of our girls drinking out of it. It had a 'blue' in the system and a freshener/cleaner thing round the rim, god only knows what chemicals she ingested
