After getting 3/4 Bengal kitten(she had excuses why only 3/4) from a so called established bengal breeder i fell in love with the breed. However the kitten died within 4 days of me getting her. 2 vets both said she had had the illness since bfore i got her.

After a it of pushing i got a refund but was still £200 out of pocket with vets bills. i have since found out she is still selling part bengal kits which must be out of another litter close to the one i bought so she must have several queens producing part bengals.... after what i saw and have found out since she is a bsb making a fortune seeling different breeds in both dog and cat..
Anyway after a period of quarentine i started looking around. I was lucky that a local breeder agreed to meet me and talk bengals. And of course i came home with one!

She was a 18wk queen that the breeder was intending to keep but due to a change in family circumstances (legit!) she had decided to lower her cat numbers. Now i wasn't a fan of sn sp bengals but i fell head over heels for amber. She is very well spotted and a cream with coffee spots. Mink i think its called? Green eyes.
My intention is to join a local cat club and show her if she is good enough, i have chcked her against the breed standard and think she is. I am also looking to mate her in the future and she will be my foundation cat.

I know it sounds like i have jumped in but i took a long time reading everything and making many emails.
i have joined this forum so i can ask lots silly questions!

hope i haven't bored yo and do you think the GCCF would be interested in the breeder as she does sell GCCF reg cats as well?

hi wendy!

glad you found our forum, it's got lots of lovely people all willing to natter about bengals til the cows come home.
"bore us"?? never!!! you feel free to ask away hun about anything you think we may be able to help with :D

i'm sorry you had a bad experience with your first (almost) bengal, that must have been awful for you. i'm not sure if the GCCF would do anything as the mix kittens wouldn't have been registered with them, & unfortunately there is no regulation regarding mix-breeding, much as most of us disagree with it. accidents happen & experienced breeders may deliberately mix with the intention of creating new breeds, but i agree with you that this particular breeder sounds a bit dubious from what you have said. i can only say the best thing would be put it down to experience & it has probably made you much wiser as to who to work with (or not) in the future.

on a much lighter note, your snow spotted sounds a star! i'd love to see some pics of her...was she sold as a show/breeder on the active register? as you wouldn't be able to breed from her otherwise  hopefully all is well this time round & you can move onward with your bengal adventure!

look forward to getting to know you here :D

Welcome here ;).

If you cat (who looks lovely but we need some photos  ) has got aqua (blue green) eyes she's a mink, if they're green then she's a sepia ;).

Hi AnnC

Just thought I would let u know that if wmk's seal bengal has green eyes it would still be a mink point sepia has gold eyes and are slighly rarer.

Not that I'm an expert but check for yourself at akerrs bengals been breeding for over 20 years should know what she's talking about

Well for me mink (cscb) = aqua and sepia (cbcb) = gold to green like C- cats... as said on Eriadors bengals website ;).

Tha aqua is the dilution between blue (cscs) and green (cbcb) as those 2 genes are codominant (while recessive compared to C of course).

The aqua tint can of course be a light green such as on this Tonkinese making the difference difficicult to spot but for sepia eyes can be green and not only gold ;).

Hi and welcome to the forum, wmk.
So sorry to hear of your sad experience with your first kitty, i hope all works out well with your new fur friend, Amber. Would love to see pics! :D

Re the aqua/blue eyed thingy - Saffy, my snow spotted female, has blue eyes, but a they are a very pale blue. No hint of green.

Horus :( my sadly deceased male, saffy's brother, who was a snow marble, had the most beautiful blue eyes, like the sky in high summer. You could see them a mile away. 8)
