Wow that's soooo cool! Native American culture is facinating. I love the US and we still have so much of it we want to see, only been to Orlando and Las Vegas so far.

Does this look like it might be in Ordnance Park? (Probably hard to tell... I didn't label my pictures properly, but I think these are from the Pow Wow in St. Albans.)


...and I hope I'm not offending anyone by posting their pics, but it was a public event after all and I think these are ok. (It was more like a real tribal gathering than a tourist event and for some dances and ceremonies they asked for spectators to refrain from taking pictures, so we were really careful trying to follow proper etiquette.)

This was so cute! Watch the Little Warrior following his adored idol around the dance circle.

On the next round, Little Warrior got to carry the spear. You can really see the "Whoah, cool!" look on his face! Someone had a wish fulfilled that day.

This one has a few houses in the background. Maybe this might make it easier to determine whether it really was in St. Albans, though I'm pretty sure it was.

That's definately Ordnance Park!! The last pic is showing houses on Morrell Avenue. The event is in a very large, City-owned field across the street. The other side of the field should be bordered by railroad tracks...and if you go across, you're almost at my front door!

The houses in Ordnance Park are "duplexes", and they were built during WWII for workers and their families who moved here to work in the chemical plants that were being built in the valley. There are 7 streets, each two blocks long.

St. Albans is an old City, over one hundred years old, and this area does have some Native American history. The name of our County, Kanawha, is Native American in origin.

I believe that one of our ex-councilmen, and the Mayor at that time were heavily involved in this event. Awesome that you found some pics, thanks for sharing them! I don't recall seeing any before.

There are actually some lovely old houses/buildings here which are listed on the National Historical register.
