Cat Nip

my 3 adults like it a lot, but only the really strong stuff in leaf form, the toys with it have no effect.... my 9 month old ozzy, takes no notice of even the strongest cat nip xx

I've tried the spray, toys, dried leaf and fresh on lynx every few months or so... And it all ends up going to the shelter (Or in the case of fresh - die).. At 14 months - still nothing. I guess he doesn't need encouragement anyways. If I move any object back and forth a few times it turns into a toy. Especially pens and lighters.

Gaga seems to have developed a recent intense interest in Catnip. I have a little plastic tub of it, and opened the lid and gave her a sniff. Her eyes got big, she took a couple big "drags" then before I could react she had her paw in there and was shoveling it out. She had a pretty good sized little pile of it on the bed before I could stop her, and when I finally closed it back up, she was busy burying her face in the pile she had made. What a mess, but that is what it's for.

I can't tell with Serafina yet. She seems to recognize that it's something good, and likes to sniff it, but hasn't had a reaction like Gaga does yet.

Serafina loves the little catnip toys that she has, but then she loves pretty much all toys so it's hard to say.

My Scottish fold never reacts to cat nip. She has reacted to valerian root toys though. I think that's what those were...

Raiden seems to like the toys that are filled with catnip. I have a spray and he doesn't particularly care for the toys that are sprayed.

Monty enjoys cat nip (we got him at 10months, and he's now almost 18months). We have a little bottle of cat nip spray, ideally to 'freshen' up some of his toys. We put some on the wrapping paper of his Christmas present, which helped him to open it himself...before deciding to attack all other presents in the room as he was high on cat nip afterwards.

My other half decided as he was trying to get him to use a scratch board, that he would show him the bottle, which then led to a squirt of it going onto his tail by accident. The easy way to put it was that we had a hyper cat for the rest of the evening! Which my parents found highly entertaining!

My old tortie, Jasmine, used to LOVE cat nip. We put a little pouch of it inside an old sock and you'd come down to find her with her face buried in the sock whilst she lay there inhaling it.

Our last kitty, Dee, wasn't the slightest bit interested. No reaction, no interest. Just 'meh' about it.

I bought a jar of catnip bubbles (like the bubbles you would blow as a little kid). The cats love them and it is so interesting to see their confusion turn to interest to excitement once the smell the catnip!
