Hi there,

I'm Jim 34 from Derbyshire, very proudly owned by Shelly a 3 year old silver spotted bengal, 'I've had James since i moved into his house and he's doing very well !! ' Shelly says

Anyway, I'll be completly honest she's the perfect pet for me, loyal attentive, cheeky & bags of fun... Pics to follow.

jim

Hi Jim

Welcome here :D

Looking forward to seeing pics of Shelly :D I think I'm one on my own here as posters seem to have 1 or 2 Bengal pets, whereas I have 7

But there is certainly never a dull moment in our home  (and of course we adore them all and wouldn't be without them  )

Mxx

Hi Jim and welcome - well, you know what they say...'Dogs have owners, Cats have servants' Never a truer word, if you ask me!

Thanks for the kind reply everyone its nice to have such a warm welcome after riding home for an hour in the rain!.

Well, I got into bengals through a friend who had one, I saw some pictures of her & instantly fell for the breed, so I did some extensive research & then unbeknownst to me i found out that people sold on the retired Queens & Studs to forever homes well within my budget :D.

So I found a breeder fairly local to me & got in touch, the bengal I originally went to see went bonkers at me hissing & being rather stroppy when ever I got close, I realised that this was due to the fact that I had been on my scooter for a good hour or so was covered in flies 'as it was the middle of summer' & smelt of petrol which of course didnt help matters, Kind lady who bred them said I do have another I am retiring that was imported as kitten from the states & lo & behold I ventured into Shellys pen, whilst nowhere as near as flighty as the other bengal she eventually let me give her a fuss whilst she was eating.

A few weeks later in april this year she was delivered to me directly by the breeder, Belive it or not on the very first night I had her she slpt by my head on my bed I was of course very honoured that she trusted me to be near me.

As time went by her character blossomed, gaining more confidence day by day by, to the point now where she is the cat of my dreams, friendly, attentative, very vocal which I love as we talk every day & a complete lapcat, when i've not got my laptop on my lap!

I've had various pets in the past ranging from a Muscovy duck to Gaint Endangered Gecko's & most things inbetween, I can honestly say hand on heart she is the best thing i have ever been lucky enough to have a close relationship with.

I say relationship because no matter what you own cat, dog, ferret .. you don't really own them as they are their own boss, they simply tolerate & if we are lucky enough enjoy our company & show their contentment.

Jim xjx n the furry one!

I totally agree with your last sentence Jim. Cats are so independent but they allow us to enjoy their company and return our affection in droves if we are lucky enough. Bengals are just so loyal too which is why I love them so much, not to mention completely bonkers sometimes! :D

And Ren, my 7 spotty fuzz-faces are purely PETS! (Leo, Xabu, LJ, Tahja, Angel, Teddy and Charlie :D ) They don't include our Mummy and Daddy cats (who are pets too of course  )

Do you think I need help?

Not at all Madeline, in fact I have serious plans in the not to distant future to get a pair of Kittens so Shelly can mother them to maturity & then if it all go to plan the patter of tint spotted paws will be heard...

Jim & the sneaky wallpaper stripper!

^^ The answer to that is no! ^^

'wallpaper stripper' eh? Hmmm.........

A long time ago in the distant past we used to... have paper on the walls, carpets, ornaments, plants/flowers, pictures on the walls hung low-ish, no skid marks on floors, be able to actually leave a glass/cup on the table minus paw dunked in, eat dinner in peace, know where the remote control is, not be woken in the early hours by a horde of mad cats racing around and/or licking nose till you wake up...Could go on, but I'd be here all night...

Wouldn't have it any other way though
