More news with the same bengal girl Nala - we noticed for a day or so that she wasn't jumping or playing as much as usual but didn't think too much of it. But then, last night we noticed a lump on her side, right along one of her ribs. It looks like a rib might be broken! When I touch it she cries.
I can't imagine why this poor girl keeps getting hurt, I mean we have no small children or other people coming over. The bengals play pretty hard together and are always jumping and roughhousing, but I wouldn't think it could cause injuries like this. We had a vet appointment this Friday but moved it up to today, so I'll report back here when I find something out! :( Our other bengal boy has been just fine.

Ok, found out it is not a broken rib, just an absess that was caused in all likelyhood by being bitten from another cat. I'm assuming it was just playing around with her brother and they got a little out of hand. Soooo glad it is not anything broken!

Poor little thing...hope she's feeling better after her visit to the vets. I'd say she's just been unlucky...bengals play hard and usually get away with it, maybe her brother's just a little too rough but I'm sure she'll get use to it

I think her brother is probably just a little too rough, and he's much bigger than she is right now as well. I was beginning to feel bad after the limping and then this bump like I was a bad parent or something.
They are always leaping and crashing into things besides pouncing on each other. She was so cute at the vet, she would not stop purring so the vet could not listen to her heart. They tried all sorts of things to get her to stop purring but nothing worked so the vet never did get to listen...

Oh dear should I start worrying again? I'm not really the type to overreact to things, but my girl kitten's bump is definitely bigger and protruding more this evening...She is running and playing as usual though.

Did the vet lance the abcess?

If not then the anti-biotics will take a few days to take effect and then the swelling will go down by itself.....Don't worry I'm sure she'd let you know if she was in any pain!

Heidi tried for ages to find Tallys heartbeat the other night.....We got it in the end though, It sounded pretty fast too.....mind you she had just been upto no-good (as any normal healthy bengal should be) ;)

:D RED :D
Your little girl is beautiful!!! I'm so glad you went ahead and did that (this fromt the woman feeding and vetting 10 cats - and NOT a breeder... LOL

Hope all goes well with her "bump" -- and that the vet DID give you some antibiotics for her.

We worry about our bengal babies, more than some people seem to worry about their children <_<

My whole crew is doing great. They have ALL been pretty demanding of my time, since my return from my Alaska vacation.

Dagger went to another show, two weekends ago -- He was in the top 5 brown spotted in a field of 14 -- 8 of the 14 rings. YEAH !!!

I need to catch up on all the posts -- but am thrilled that you have your lovely little girl!

Thanks everyone for your advice and concern! I thought I had posted this earlier but just looked and don't see it so I must be imagining things! Our vet did NOT give us antibiotics and did not lance the absess. I should have waited another day before going to the vet because it has gotten larger since. The vet thought it should go away in a few days on its own, but there is definitely still a large lump and larger than when we brought her in. She seems fine otherwise, playful and loving etc., so I just don't know if we need to bring her in again. I am going to call the vet tomorrow though if it has not calmed down. I've never had problems like this with a cat before! She is such a sweet loving little cat, I am worried about her. Her brother on the other hand has been indestructable.

Great news, Glad it's all sorted now!

Our boy once had a lump on his front leg caused from a cat bite during a fight with a local tom... ..The vet said it was probably a fragment of of the other cats tooth that created the abcess.

Hey red, don?t worry about her. She?s just young, curious and adventurous. She?ll settle down soon enough and stop getting herself in mischief!

Glad to hear she?s doing well!
