Hi All,
Question that maybe someone can answer. My yougest girl Beepers has had scratchy voice no voice for 3 days I have put a call into the vet and waiting for return call. Has this happen to anybody else? Do cats voices change like humans do?

Chet <_<

Hi

Not sure if it?s relevant but our male Bengal had what we called a ?dry? meow, this is where he made all the motions to meow but nothing would come out. He also gave of a kind of ?squeak? when ever we picked him up. He always did this and it never seamed to cause him any discomfort. We weren?t worried because he could still let-off a rip curling MEOW if something did upset him (e,g. another cat at the front of the house)

Heidi,
Yes that is what is happening. Pick her up and nothing comes out then a few mins later still holding her she gets something out.

I am sure when your speak to your vet they will be able to put your mind at rest as to what is causing the problem.

Let us all know what he/she says, as I am curious now.

My bengals are very vocal, especially in the morning, or when they are calling each other to come and play. :P

Ok just got off the phone with the vet she said that sounds like nothing to worry about for now. She said she has seen cats lose their voice forever and not effect them in any other way. I told her that Beepers wasnt running fever that she was eating drinking and playing like normal, also told her we checked for lumps on the sides of her neck and she that is good and we didnt find anything that wasnt supposed to be there. She said if it takes a turn for the worse to call her let know. Our vet knows Beeperss real well since Beepers spent her first week with us in the hospital with a 106 degree fever for 3 days then like 6 months later she quit eating and had to take her back they said to force feed her her food so we did that for a week before she started eating again on her so the vet knows her history well and we trust her.

This morning Beepers is sounding better but I'm trying to make sure she doesnt talk to much to give her throat time to heal
