I had a leaflet posted from my vets explaining that the Capstar /Program injection is available. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any side effects? Cost etc

One of my previous cats had an injection for fleas because she was impossible to give pills to. I'm not sure if it was the one in your leaflet but it did the job and she had no ill effects from it. I don't think it deals with ticks though so I would still need a separate treatment for my lot who pick up ticks for fun.

i asked my vet about it and he (although his surgery sent the leaflet out) said it wasnt worth it. coz it only works against fleas whereas drops like stronghold are also preventative against ear mites, some types of worms etc.

It also only works on flea eggs (it stops them hatching) which means your cats can still carry adult fleas. That's only really an issue if they go outside or come across other animals with fleas though. If they're indoor cats then erradicating the eggs ought to be be enough.

Ahhh, i see. Not worth it for mine who are now indoor cats. I use stronghold at the mo. Do you think it is still nessasry to be dong them every 4 wks now that they don't go out? We do have a door screen which looks out over the garden where they like to spend sometime so would they still be able to catch fleas?

Its a hard one to say to be honest. I do it every 4 weeks any way but im badly allergic to flea bites (nasty big swellings and itchy badness) I know my friend who keeps indoor cats doesnt bother and ive never had a bite at her house...
