It is not always necessary to have sedation.
I have 6 cats tested, none needed sedation, it perhaps depends on the cardiologist involved.

Hi LindaK,

I notice you live in the US too. We are in Colorado, and we pay right around $500 per cat. Our cardiologist does not use sedation either.

As a matter of interest for UK breeders, especially those who find the cost of HCM screening an issue, there is an excellent cardiologist in Guildford, Surrey.
She is keeping the price low at £98.60 per cat so that it may encourage more breeders to screen their cats.

When my Yuki was first suspected of having heart problems instead of cancer, the cardio estimate was around $450.

I live in South Carolina...
