So, my baby got neutered yesterday. He's doing very, very well, which basically means.. it's like he didn't even get his little nuts removed, so he's CONSTANTLY trying to tell us that he wants to fetch his toy, he does this by.. dropping his toy right in our face.. and he tries to do it to both of us (my boyfriend and myself) to see which one will actually throw it. I feel extra bad for not playing with him and I know that he sits there and is wondering why won't you play with me?

How can I alleviate this NEED to want to play hardcore FOR 2 WEEKS? I understand that kitty neuters are a very simple procedure with a very small incision.. he'll probably be okay sooner than 2 weeks, but I don't wanna risk it.

Also, is it normal for him to smell awful after a neuter? I'm assuming it's from the surgery but.. IDK. I'm afraid to let him actually clean himself down there cuz he might go at it on the incision spot.

I've never heard of a male cat having to be playless for two weeks. Females, yes. My vet told me that my male just needed a couple days. Many cats are listless for a couple of days due to the pain from the surgery. Your little one obviously isn't having any complications. I would let him do some light play. Don't get him winded. If he wants to fetch, let him fetch. Don't throw it far and don't do it as many times.

As for the smell, it is very possibly due to the surgery. They would use antiseptic in the area. It should dissipate in a few days. Note that a strong odor can also be a sign of infection, so keep an eye on the region and let your vet know if there is any redness or swelling.
