Moshi has just urinated in our laundry basket but it's full of blood. Do I need to get an emergency vets appointment this evening or will first thing in the morning be ok?

He is well and eating and drinking water no other signs of illness.

Usually you just ring your normal vet number and it goes to an emergency number or tells you where to ring.

Thank you guys, I was in such a panic I always thought I would know what to do but I went to bits.

I rang our vet and they were still open! Told them everything and they asked if we could bring him right away so we've just got back.

He checked his bladder was empty and because it was it was a really good sign and he said there was no bruising around his penis. He think it's cystitis (sp?) and he gave him an antibiotic injection and an anti-inflamatory injection. Then he fussed him and gave him two treats

We have two lots of tablets to give him over the next week and special wet food. If we catch him straining or in pain he has to go back right away but if not then it's a check up in a weeks time.

My Mum bless her paid over the phone for it as we are broke as OH still hasn't been successful on job front after being made redundnat

Going to go fuss Moshi, Indiana and Dexter now.

We are constantly checking the water bowls and they are going down so I think that's a good sign. Never had any trouble getting the boys to drink water so it seems a little odd.

At the moment we feed the boys 60gms of Hills a day each split into three meals. Once or twice a week we substitute one of thier meals for fresh prawns.

We are now considering changing one of the meals to be Hills wet food daily. Would they need a whole pouch each bearing in mind they would still be getting 40g of dried food each during the day?

We've had to be careful as ours did get chubby hence the strict diet and feeding times. Moshi has lost a lot of weight and suprisingly the vet was about to say he was overweight when he saw the difference in his weight since his last visit. I am starting to worry that they expect them to be the size of a normal cat

Forgot to say Moshi now weighs 5.9 kilos and Indiana is about the same and dexter is a little lighter.
