I need some advice
picked up Zak from the breeder, he was a lovely chap on the way home and has stayed the same ...lovely. The problem is he seemed just a little too laid back and we noticed he didn't respond to sound on closer inspection by the vet it turns out he has both ears full of wax poor mite...the vet said he most likely had an ear infection when with the breeder, the breeder says no.
Anyway what I really want help with is the drops have not worked yet he is still as deaf as a post how long do you think I should leave it before going back to the vet.... a week? Someone on the internet said ear wax and infections can lead to yeast infections....
Oh he is fine in every other way..eating drinking..playing and ...well you know.

If there is no improvement when he has finished his course of ear drops, take him back to your vet.

thats the point she said the wax should come out/ move so he will be able to hear in day or two and it hasn't, has anybody else had a kitten/cat with the same problem, I'd just like to compare notes. I am not sure I am explaining myself very well here I feel sorry for him he is such a cutie

Is it wax or did they mention earmites? Not sure what to suggest here really but rather than the drops you have did you vet mention Stronghold? As this eliminates ear mites aswell as fleas & ticks & certain worms & is administered on the back of the neck similar to Frontline.

the vet said both his ears were completly blocked with wax, she said he must have had an infection pos ear mites prior to me getting him. I'm just wondering if anyone has encountered this and has any tips, no outward signs of mites at this time

I haven't had experience myself but from what I have read about earmites not sure that you can see them, but signs are waxy ears which you have mentioned.

Maybe it's worth asking your vet for some Stronghold to see if that helps your cats wax problem. I hope that this will help the poor lil fella

When we got our boy we took him to the vets who noted he had a yeast infection in both ears...obviously wasnt too bad as he was scratching them but we had to clean his ears out daily with special stuff then use ear drops. They are still a little waxy now but much much better

i was told to use the cleanaural on one day and the drops (cant remember what they were called) the next and visa versa.. and in 2 weeks he was clear and free

just thought I would give out some good news. Zak can hear, he had the most amazing amount of ear wax, he still has some but it is getting less and he responds to some sounds but not the word 'No'.
I know it is a small thing but I am happy that he will hear birds sing etc
