I just came back from the vet and we discussed the worming issues, a cat can be de-wormed every 2 weeks, as the eggs can lie around that long, we just de-worm every 3 months because thats the usual time to do them, Your cat can have worms, you can de-worm them, the cat can go outside or pick eggs up that may have been attached to your shoes and contact worms again...so its ok to de-worm your cat sooner than the 3 month period.

WHat does everyone use for worming? I have some Bob Martin de-Wormer (the spot-on stuff) but I'm worried about using it for some reason... You hear horror stories about medication bought off the shelf.

unfortunately you seem to hear horror stories about most things, but i personally feel it's best to stick with what you are used to, or what the breeder used.
i use drontal tablets and so far, have had no problems with them. i get them from the vet or from online veterinary supply sites (no prescription needed).
best to discuss with your breeder what they used, or ask your vet what they recommend.

From what I've read bloody diarrhea is a sign of irritation of the colon, so I'm trying out rain water instead of tap water, and might change his food.

please please please, if you are considering changing water change to bottled or boiled not rain! you wouldnt let your child drink from a rain butt would you? rain water will have high levels of parasites and toxins in it.

I know of a good few cats and dogs who drink rain water and prefer that a lot to tap water...

i agree that some animals may prefer it, but to my mind the risks are far too high particularly if the animal has a sensitive tum already...

what did your vet say about the idea?
