goblin has had another slightly runny tum, yet again, its not particularly bad and i gave him the probiotic-prebiotic yesterday and there is already an improvement.

i realise this is probably just a side effect of the fact that he is stressed coz we are still treating his ears but i just want to run through a few details about general kitty hygiene just to make sure i am not unwittingly doing something wrong.

there are 2 litter boxes using catsbest okoplus, this is scooped daily and fully emptied every 10 days or so. when it is emptied the trays are disinfected and flushed with boiling water.

the catit water fountain is washed weekly with a kittysafe disinfectant and is filled with either boiled or bottled water.

the food bowl is washed (in the dishwasher) each night. it is a heavy duty ceramic bowl as they apparently are less able to harbour bacteria than plastic ones.

is there anything else you can think of that i should be doing that im not?

What have you been feeding him? Any raw food? Sometimes you can get bacteria even in human grade meats if they are not cooked or frozen and then defrosted before serving.

OR maybe Goblin just needs to be wormed again?

he was wormed 3 weeks ago and ollie is also up to date on worming,

he is fed on bozita wet food, hills dry (although im thinking of switching this to orijen) and "thrive" freeze dried prawn treats

Maybe try more dry food Vs wet to help firm him up. I wouldn't try switching to Orijen until his tum has settled otherwise you won't be able to see what is causing it. We had problems with Chats when we were giving him the Science Diet sachets for breakfast & dinner and dry food for during the day, once we increased his dry food - Purina kitten formula he firmed up in 2 days.

Worth a try. I can't remember how old Goblin is but if he is still less then 6 months you should worm him monthly.

well i took him back to the vet (my shiney new vet for anyone who saw my old vet, new vet, red, vet blue vet thread)

she is much more experienced with bengals and has taken the whole thing in stride.

she has sent off more samples for get tested, and included some things that they apparently didnt test for before. she has also given him some samples of hills i/d wet and royal canin dry (cant remember which one but its something like digestive care, or sensative tum or something) for him to try once im sure its settled. (she had even heard of orijen though and said that would be good to try too)

strangly enough, it seems to have settled down now, but im so glad that she is not prepared to just say "its stress, dont worry about it" like the last guy.

she says that if the tests come back negative then we can work on filtering through his diet over time to figure out what he has probs with so we can find a diet that works.
