Just having the most awful evening ahead with a very poorly Bengal now residing at the local vets.
Indy has been a little quiet the last few days. In the past there were 3 incidents of leg lameness. He would go wobbly and miserable looking for say 10-15 mins and then be back to normal. We took him to the vets as soon as we could each time but by then there was nothing to see.
One vet tested him for diabetes (nope), checked his heart (possible murmor but hard to say as stressed cats at vets have pounding unclear heart sounds anyway). The other vet though it may be a pulled muscle (we suspected so too as he had been having a mad day and we weren't sure if he had jumped downstairs).
Tonight I got home and he seemed quiet. I then heard a door banging and went to see what he was up to. He was laid flat trying to cick his leg out and started crying lots. He had no back leg function at all.
Took him straight to vets. It looks like he may have an enlarged heart which has caused a blood clot to his legs. Like cat equivalent of a stroke.
They are keeping him in for tests and pain relief but I don't think it looks good.
The vet said how cold his legs felt and that triggered the thought that before when he went lame he had cold legs. Wish I'd mentioned it before because they might have paid closer attention to his heart and be on blood thinners and it may never have happened.
So all I really want to say is if cat has cold lame legs push the vet to do more heart tests
