My Daisy used to do that all the time - made worse by the fact that she had runny poo most of the time She just didn't seem to bother lifting her tail when she went so it got covered. She did get better once she started to do her business outdoors but I'm afraid she didn't get any better in the litter tray.

Yeah, we've had a good weekend. Dolly's now going out again (fingers crossed she doesn't go near the road) and she seems quite relaxed. I woke up at 6am this morning to find her snuggled up next to me on the bed which was lovely. She then went out and caught a bird and brought it in for the moglets - I think they're still trying to work out what it was!!

hopefully he'll learn, but i have a litter of 6 week olds who are just litter training now, & they already hold their tails up. i guess it's just instinct, so maybe if he hasn't learnt by now then he's just not bothered.

it's not pleasant, but if you see him going to the tray, you could hold his tail out the way while he's there, he might get the hint & start doing it for himself.

Saffy always gets her tail in 'it' - i had to wash her down earlier. Whereas William doesn't. He's very well trained. He does have a problem with peeing down his leg though.

I like the suggestion of holding the tail whilst the cat goes about their 'business'.. Could be interesting.

I'm guessing it's something they either do, or don't do.
Or something they learn over time. (Although i despair as Saffy is now 3 1/2)

i would suspect it also depends on the depth of the litter if they use a litter tray and the height of the cat (shorter legs means the cat cannot stand as high as a longer-legged cat!)

Eek - you'll need to be careful if she's got a thing for eating stuff like string. It's OK if it passes straight through, but it can be fatal if it gets tangled in the intestines, or very expensive to have removed in surgery.

I found the moglets had got a reel of cotton the other day which they'd unravelled all over my conservatory. No idea where they got it from and I don't think they'd eaten any of it but it certainly made me tidy up very quickly!
