Thanks in advance for any help. I am the proud new mommy of a bengal girl. She's a 2 1/2 yo queen and had to be spayed due to complications in which she lost her first litter. I adopted her about a week ago. She has diarrhea and was prescribed pro-pectalin. It's a paste that supposedly tastes like chicken - but she isn't fooled. I fed her 1st three doses in small amounts of some plain grilled chicken, but now that is gone. She was on to me anyway. I have some plain prepackaged sliced chicken but I'm hesitant to use it since lunchmeat tend to have so many preservatives. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, we did a feces test that was negative for everything so I think it's just nerves, but I didn't want to let it continue since it's been almost a week since we got her home. She has a great purrsonality and is the jewel of my family. I don't want to have to hold her down and feed her yucky stuff - that might undo some of the progress we've made. [/b]

Oh, where to begin . . . Molly did not respond at all to the pro-pectalin. We started her on Albon for a couple of days before we got the results of the second fecal test that was positive for giardia. Then we started treatments of panacur, which made it smell much better, and darkened it, but Molly is still runny. Now we've started Metronidazole, and we HAVE to hold her down because she won't even take it in tuna. She is getting used to me giving her meds now though. She just took her 4th dose(at 2/day) of the Metronidazole this morning, and the doc said it should do the trick in 24-48 hours. A little while after her dose this morning I noticed her going into the box, and as she dug her hole with her bum hanging outside the box she pooed right onto the mat. Poor thing is trying but she just can't make it. And now it's runny and mucosy. I don't know what to do. My husband and I have decided that if the vet says we have to start other testing we might just call the breeder and try to take Molly back. My heart is kind of breaking for me and Molly. Now we love each other, and I don't want to take her back. But my husband can't even get ready for work in our bathroom because of the drips all over. And I won't have time when school starts to clean the whole bathroom every morning before getting ready. And Molly is a great cat that deserves to spend time with us in the whole house. I can't keep her in the bathroom forever. And I have small children who don't understand why they can't just play with her whenever, even though she likes playing with them. Does anyone have some advice?![/b]

You may well be upsetting your kitties tummy with all the different foods to help disguise her meds. try to stick to one kind, as Bengals have sensitive tummies to start with, has your vet tested her for everything, and is she clear. We had problems with Daisy she reacted with the dry biscuits we got from the breeder, she was runny and didnt quite make it to the litter tray a few times, we switched over to Royal Canin Dry and they both are fine, although Daisy is still soft not quite torpedo's but its firmer than runny.

michelle - I have discontinued the use of anything to disguise the meds because I agree with you. The only thing she is eating right now is Iams hairball formula dry(suggested by the breeder) with fortiflora(probiotics) sprinkled on daily. We'll keep her on that food until she's healthy for awhile, then slowly return to feeding her the Royal Canin dry that she was on before all this. I think her poo was a little better this morning. I let her out of the bathroom finally, but if I start finding stuff she will be confined again. We also put another litter box across the house so she doesn't have to go too far. She used it earlier.
Spottycats - I've never seen Sainsbury's here, though I haven't outright searched for it. I may look into that later. Right now I'd really like to stop changing anything so kitty can manage to adjust. We'll just keep using the pouches of fortiflora for now.
