Hello, I am brought to this forum because I am concerned about my new kitten, Max, that I picked up on sunday. He is a bengal cross (mum is bengal) and I have noticed that before he does a poo he will cry :? I am not sure if his cries are a vocal thing that bengals do or if he is in pain  He is a typical lively kitten and runs around quite happily before & after doing a poo. Can anyone please tell me if vocals are the norm before a poo or if a trip to the vet is needed. Thanks!!

Mine sometimes "sing" in the litter box. They make a similar noise when they're eating (not in the litter box I hasten to add :) ) so I presume it's just a happy sound.

Provided he shows no sign of being distressed when using the litter box and isn't straining to open his bowels, then I think you can assume it's just one of the funny little quirks that Bengals can have.

Yes, some of them, especially youngsters, have to tell you "I'M GOING" in a very vocal way. When feliness are either eating or toileting, they feel at their most vulnerable, so they make these growly noises to sound strong and fierce to put off any attackers.

Regards

Mine just sound cute so they've failed the fierceness test with me - maybe another feline would find it scarey though :D :D

Belle always chirps like a little bird when she's in her tray which amuses us. I think it's just her way of saying 'Look at me, I'm a clever girl'

Yeah - that's what mine sound like. Theytreat toileting as a social event and seem to be inviting spectators when they chirp :D

Fab thanks to all of you!! :P I am happy if this is the norm!! :P Before I got him I read up about how vocal they were as a breed but I guess I didn't realise that this would stretch to their toilet habits too!

You'll probably soon realise that you're taking an unhealthy interest in Max's toilet habits. Before I got Dolly and Daisy, I never thought I'd be punching the air with delight at seeing a solid cat poo in a litter tray :D :D

lol - gotta love em...

Linden does the chirping noise when she's finished. She comes bouncing out of the room where her litter tray is chirping her head off like she's saying "Look! Look! Look what I did!!"

So cute

Ha, Olly only talks in the tray when he is at my sisters house for some reason. (He has his own box there.) The 1st time he did it I was so worried that he was in pain or something, but nope he was fine. He just likes to let me know where he is and what he is doing..
