my bengal (phenix) has a over grooming problem

any suggestions on how i can fix it plz

My moggie Casper has had this all his life and it is caused by severe allergies. We were offered expensive injections which would be home administered, but the vet felt that the overgrooming was less of a problem than the 'cure' would be and we agreed.

He is allergic to everything practically, trees, plants, grass, dust, feathers, carpet fibres....

He strips off the hair on his 4 legs and his belly, but he is in no pain so we just let it be. Sometimes he licks so much it gets red and then I bathe the area in salt water. I think it has become as much of a habit as an allergic reaction now, after 5 years.

I would say check it with your vets as it can be caused by any number of things including stress.
