Hi, has anyone with several cats used World's Best litter successfully?

We've always used the wood based stuff but due to the volume and weight and trouble with our bin men now that they only collect every two weeks (and charge more council tax for the pleasure) we're looking for an alternative that works.

Would appreciate comments as the company's claims about the stuff seem hard to believe..

I will admit it is great stuff....but not all of our cats like it, someone actually prefers the floor instead! (not sure who is guilty for that crime yet)

It does work as well as they claim though......But it does have a strange sweet smell to it after the cats have used it.

Breeders can also get some discount and a few samples once in a while if they order regularly.....I did post the company website name that represents worlds best here in the u.k on another post some time ago. (they offer free delivery but I think min spend is £35-£50)

Just try a bag out in one litter tray and see, even though its expensive it does last a really long time and theres hardly any wastage.

How many cats are in your household btw?

We find that a 34lb bag lasts about 4-6 weeks with 2 Bengals. It's not cheap and certainly isn't as cheap as a "normal" litter despite what it claims on the bag. However, our boy won't use anything else, everytime we've tried anything else, he gives us a little present somewhere to show his dissapproval

Thanks for the advice I think we'll give it a go. We've been worried about the dust and tracking with the wood base stuff for a while and everything i've heard about WB litter seems to indicate that's not such a problem with it.

We have 9 adults ATM - snow marbled stud boy, 3 entire girls (1 brown marbled, 2 brown spotted) and 5 neuters. Also 6 brown marbled kittens currently 11 weeks.

We did have 10 adults until last weekend but have just rehomed an older neutered boy and will be rehoming 2 more neuters when we find the right people for them. We've realised 6 or 7 adults should be the maximum as it's selfish IMO to keep more. We found that however hard you try it's impossible (again IMO) to give a larger number of cats especially bengals the individual love and attention they need to be truly happy. Whilst perfectly content the boys were getting bored and overeating and heartbreaking as it's been we had to act. More than a few tears in the car after dropping him off last saturday.

Needless to say we don't use pens and cages and the cats live indoors (with outside exercise runs). Hence the litter issue. No disrespect intended to those keeping lots of cats in specialised housing but it's not our thing.

Re bengals leaving presents I was in bed yesterday morning (work nights) and heard this odd light beating noise against the closed door. Further investigation revealed the source: queen outside door peeing at it to attract attention of stud boy asleep on the bed with me. He slept on oblivious. I got the Simple Solution out.

Update on the toilet - WBCL is very good but I see what you mean about the smell Meemonkey. We found the normal strength stuff is dusty and tracks . Breeders strength much better and useable. We've since been trying out an alternative wheat litter (Swheat Scoop) and have to say it seems to be even better.

I think we're going to try some kind of chick feed stuff next according to Heidi.

Its more so we can just throw the whole lot away each day without re-morgaging the house!

that may sound extreme, but far easier IMO.....less hassle, more hygenic and its suppose to be better for odour control too! (can't think how)

Hi Meemonkey - can you let us know how you get on with the chicken feed. Through a friend of a friend I've heard of another breeder who uses it and apparently it works. I did wonder about the antibiotics they put in the stuff (unless organic) but guess the cats won't be eating it..I found the trouble with changing the litter everyday (we used to when we used the wood pellets) is the sheer volume & weight involved. I once had a bag split at the rubbish pit and had numerous shall we say heated conversations with the people there as apparently it's not supposed to go in the skips at our recycling centre. I innocently believed we paid council tax to have our rubbish disposed of...

Our Darkie has actually done this only a few weeks ago, Hopefully it'll be just a one off event, or she'd better figure out how to flush.

She also has a penchant for a certain plug-hole too .....we believe she thinks she's doing us a big favor considering that she could quite easily wee anywhere she pleased.
