Well now for the results...

There is good news, bad news, and amusing news.

The good news is that the ultrasound confirmed that his liver was A-OK and they did not need to do a biopsy... so he does not have hepatitis. After some arguing, the ultrasound vet and my vet finally agreed that it was not his liver that was enlarged, it was his stomach.

The bad news is that our little guy had to go in for surgery yesterday to have a mystery object removed from his stomach. The amusing part... I was brought in to view the x-rays of the "mystery object" which appeared to be a large mesh of string. Thinking to myself "what could this possibly be? he doesn't eat string" I remembered his favorite toy, little black elastic hair ties that my fiance uses. Apparently he had eaten some (surgery confirmed a total of 17 to be exact) and since he was so young and small, they did not pass through his system (a good thing).

Needless to say, our little guy came out of surgery and did a fantastic job. The vet today said that he was very feisty and wanted to go home but they wanted to make sure he was ok first. He is already eating like a pig and he will be happily back home tomorrow to destroy some more things in our house.

All in all, a happier ending then the original thoughts. Thank you all for the support!

Wow - 17 hair ties is a pretty impressive haul. What a good job you took him for his check up and thank goodness it was something that could be dealt with surgically. Now all you have to do is hide all the other things he could eat
