Anyone have any suggestions on how to make a Recliner less dangerous for a Bengal Cat?

I've got one at home now and I'm trying to figure out how I can cat proof it.

What area are you trying to cat proof? The bottom when the foot rest is up? We have two motorized recliners and our bengal doesn't even attempt to get anywhere under them. If it's the footrest, you can probably secure cardboard to close off access under the footrest when it's open and the footrest would rest on the cardboard when closed. If the area is open in the back of the chair, cardboard would do the trick as well. Hold with duct tape. If there is another area you're looking at, let us know.

We have a recliner chair and sofa, Pearl does go underneath it but I just make sure she is nowhere under it when putting it down.
Magic is too big to get underneath now.
