My little guy is about 4 months old. It seems this last month he has had diarrhea a lot. He messes on our bed, because he can't make it to the litter box. I have had him tested for normal parasites and TF results were negatuve5. I haven't changed his food. The vets either want to send off a diarrhea panel, and or treat him for parasites now while we wait. He's very active and healthy. Should I have him treated while we wait for results or would that be counterproductive. Please help me with any ideas of would could be going on with him, or any advice whatsoever. I want him to poop normal again.

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your baby! What you are experiencing is normal when a kitten goes into a new environment. The stress of being taken away from mommy and siblings can be traumatic. You say you haven't changed his food. New babies should be on the same food the breeder was feeding them. Kittens have sensitive digestive systems. Since you have ruled out any medical issues, my advice to you is to add additional litter boxes so that those tiny legs can reach the correct spot to "do its business."

You can also add a feline probiotic to the kitty's food. You can purchase products online and your pet store probably carries it. I would add a small amount -- 1/2 dose to your kitty's food and see if that helps. Even though your kitty is eating, drinking and playing normally, the system has been upset by something .... and I would not recommend the vet start treating for a condition that is not there. I feel that would do more harm than good. If there is no parasite or TF, there is no need for the medication. Know that these things can take time to improve.

Do not do anything like rub your kitty's nose in it. This is not his fault! Diarrhea is not fun for a cat, just like it's no fun for humans. Have patience and be diligent to see if you can place him in the litter box when you feel he has to go. I know this is messy and smelly ... but it's not your baby's fault. Good luck.

Thank you for the great advice. I did put him on a pro-pre biotic. It seems now he has more frequent diareah, but not as big piles. I'm currently waiting for the vet to return my call to go with the most officiant testing we can do and no meds for my little love until we know what's happening. Thank you for the advice again and will keep everyone posted on the outcome.

Hopefully, your vet will figure this out. There could be an issue in the intestinal tract. You may need to go the imaging route, which is expensive. But, you need to rule out everything else first. Hopefully, the probiotic will continue to improve the situation.

Bless him. No further advice other than you could try a little poached chicken breast for one of the meals, adding a little of the poaching water when feeding.

Hi, I'm new on here looking for help too? I'm lost and fed up.
in september we brought 2 bengal kittens one a girls and one a boy.
after our vet checked them over we found they were intact 2 girls. We did want a boy but its no problem.
from the first night till now both have diarrhoea, we have spent 400.00 on vets with no improvement.

The first kitten isn't covered as we took her in the 1st 14 days of the policy, which is disgusting. As i could have wait 14 days to take her, then the other kitten was a month later she she began to go down.

we have tried raw food the food the breeder gave us, they've had antibiotics and panacur.

we have done chicken and rice which was not digested at all intact looked like a mushed up gerkin with rice in it! yuk

i am currently collecting 3 poo samples from fact kitten to be tested again. problem is for the one cat the insurance won't cover her, which I'm so upset about as she has been like this from day one.

so now were on a new food holistic nothing as yet to report but I'm preying!!!!!!
the hard bit is hearing them cry in pain, we feel helpless. they just go anywhere and we've chldren its not good.
any help would be welcomed as i can't take much more.

Has your vet tested for Tritrichomonas foetus? This parasite requires a special test that most vets will have to send a sample out to have tested. There is only ONE medication that can treat this disease and it can take weeks for it to clear up and if you have two cats with it, cross contamination can continue. A member on here had to board her cats for two weeks so they could be treated separately and get rid of it. Guardia and coccidia are two common parasites that can be cleared up within a week.

Diarrhea is not normal and it's uncomfortable for the cats (not to mention the humans that have to clean it). Make sure your vet is checking for TF as well.

I am so sorry you're going through this and all the expense, but you need to find the cause of it and treat that. Many cats have very sensitive digestive tracts as well and can't process certain foods. Please do not give up on this. At some point, you'll hit on the reason and can get your babies healthy again.

I'm back!! My little rebar was good for almost 3 months and the diareah is back. Took him in again and they treated him with the same meds. Now he seems to messing everywhere. My poor girls wake up to diareah on their floors. I feel so bad because he meows and it's almost like he can't make it. Theyou put him on pro-pectaliin and metronidazole. Now I'm going to have the lab do some lab work on him. I feel so bad and helpless. I will keep you all updated on the results
