Our kitten Zazu is a little over 5 months old. He has his favorite cat stuffed animal that is white and black. I noticed last night that his stuffed animal had these dark red spots all over it and wasn't sure if it was blood or not. Today as I noticed he was playing with it again I noticed fresh blood spots on the stuffed animal. I believe that his gums may be bleeding slightly and it is coming off as he is bitting his toy. i'm not sure if this is normal with kitten teething or not. I looked at his gums and they seem normal colored, pink gums white teeth. He is also on a raw food diet so i'm afraid maybe a small piece of bone has gotten stuck in his gum. His appetite hasn't changed and he seems to still be eating normally and not acting like he's in any pain. I didn't know if anyone else has experienced this or not

I have not experienced this but, at his age, he may have lost a tooth.

I am so over-cautious. With something like that, I'm off to the vet to have it checked out. Thankfully, our vet is 2 miles down the road. The most important thing is that the bleeding has stopped! I'm not sure when kittens lose their baby teeth -- but it may be like humans. The baby tooth comes out and there is some blood. And, blood tends to expand in fabric so a tiny drop can turn into a large blob. I'd try and do a better job of checking out his mouth (I know that's hard with a cat). I hope it's nothing serious.

Thanks for the responses. I'm always wanting to rush him off to the vet for everything as well. I just worry too much. I started to freak when I saw blood spots on his toy, but I think you're right about him maybe losing a tooth. I haven't noticed the blood since this post and i've been keeping a close eye on him and his gums but for now I think he will be okay. thanks again !
