My one year old snow Bengal Luna recently started getting pink blotches on her otherwise black paw pads. They have now spread and her pads are almost completely pink. I had a good look when it started and everything seemed to be ok - she's not sore or anything - i also did a bit of digging and found that this is not unheard of with snows.

I'm not planning to show her so this doesn't bother me from an aesthetic perspective, but i do wonder whether there is any health impact and whether i should let the breeder know. Her tabby sister is unaffected.

Has anyone else experienced this with their cats? If so, what did you do?

I had the exact same thing happen with Quasar. As a wee kit he had beautiful black paw pads. At about 10 or 11 months they started to get pink blotches. At first, I tried to find some place he might have gotten into a chemical or something but we don't have much in our house for him to get into, not even bleach.
By 1 year of age, his pads were pretty much all pink. There are still a couple of flecks of black on them but you have to hunt to find them.
He is now 3 1/2 years old.
I asked his breeder about this and she pointed to his pedigree which includes several snow bengals, which have pink pads. Maybe this is what causes the colour change? I would assume that Luna, being snow bengal, would develop those signature pink pads. Quasar is a BST.
I certainly haven't tried to do anything about it. I'm not sure what you could "do". I don't show Quasar but it seems there is allowance in the TICA standard for a variance in paw pad colour.
The most annoying thing to me is when I read posts about how a cat is only a Bengal if it has black paw pads. This is so untrue.

My mixed breed SLP Blondie was born with pink pads. Then charcoal blotches showed up and the were mixed colors. Now that are almost all dark. Her coat color had changed remarkably from when she was a kitten. She was mostly white and now is mostly dark brown, cream and white.

Here's your answer:

"Brown Tabby: All variations are allowed; however, a degree of rufinism yielding a yellow, buff, tan, golden, or light orange ground color is preferred over a gray or dark orange red background. Markings may be virtually black, tan, or various shades of brown. Light spectacles encircling the eyes and a virtually white ground color on the whisker pads, chin, chest, belly, and inner legs (in contrast to the ground color of the flanks and back) is desirable. Rims of eyes, lips, and nose should be outlined with black, and center of nose should be brick red. Eye color may be gold, copper, green, bronze, brown or hazel, the more richness and depth of color the better. Tail tip must be virtually black. Paw pads may be virtually black, eggplant, or rosy pink with no speckling or mottling allowed.

Silver Tabby: Ground color should be a sparkling silver-white overlaid with intense black horizontally flowing markings, contrasted markings may be distinctly charcoal to dark gray. Rims of eyes, nose and lips outlined in black. White spectacles encircling the eyes and a white ground color on the whisker pads, chin, chest, belly, and inner legs (in contrast to the ground color of the flanks and back) is desirable. The silver tabby genetically is a shaded cat expressing the agouti pattern, therefore the undercoat should be white. A small degree of tarnishing is acceptable, especially along the spine, legs, muzzle and face. Paw pads should be deep charcoal or brownish black, no speckling or mottling allowed. Nose leather brick red. Eye color may be gold, copper, green, bronze, brown or hazel, the more richness and depth of color the better.

Seal Sepia Tabby: Ground color should be ivory, cream, or light tan with pattern clearly visible. Seal sepia tabby pattern may be various shades of seal sepia to a dark seal sepia. Ivory or cream spectacles encircling the eyes, and ivory or cream whisker pads and chin are desirable. There should be very little or no difference between the color of body markings and point color. Paw pads should be dark brown with rosy pink undertones allowed. Tail tip should be dark seal brown. Eye color should be gold, but may also be gold green, the more richness and depth of color the better.

Seal Mink Tabby: Ground color should be ivory, cream, or light tan with pattern clearly visible. Seal mink tabby pattern may be various shades of seal mink to a dark seal mink. Ivory or cream spectacles encircling the eyes, and ivory or cream whisker pads and chin are desirable. There should be very little or no difference between the color of body markings and point color. Paw pads should be dark brown with rosy pink undertones allowed. Tail tip should be dark seal brown. Eye color should be aqua (blue green) but may also be green, or green gold, the more richness and depth of color the better.

Seal Lynx Tabby: Ground color should be ivory to cream with pattern clearly visible. Pattern can vary in color from dark seal brown, light brown, tan, or buff, with light spectacles, whisker pads, and chin. There should be little difference between color of body markings and point color. Paw pads should be dark brown with rosy pink undertones allowed. Tail tip must be dark seal brown. Eye color must be blue, the more richness and depth of color the better."

These descriptions are for show kitties, but pink is clearly acceptable! And a post on this forum from 2011, had a snow bengal's pads changing as well, so it is quite common! viewtopic.php?t=11315

Thanks everyone, i'd always thought they were supposed to have black pads, so this was a bit of a surprise! Glad it's all normal :)

Magic has some pink spots on one of his feet on the pads on the same foot he has a tuft of white fur between two toes, I think it's a throw back as I know there is snows in his gene pool
