I have a male Bengal who apparently had ear mites? I am not sure as the vet I went to,I felt was quite dishonest and trying to get me to spend all the money I could.

I was given revolution but his ears are still just as dirty. Is it possible if he does have ear mites that they could have survived the 1 treatment of revolution. I have 2 other cats and their ears are clean!

Revolution supposedly can cure a mild case of ear mites and keep them at bay, but not a severe case. That may require antibiotics of some type. Also, I'm not sure how long it may take for something to actually work -- a few days? A week?

If you feel your vet is not treating you fairly and honestly, then find another vet. Mine may want to sell me something, but I can refuse it with no problem and find it online cheaper. They don't seem to care.

I've not had to deal with ear mites so far, but I'm assuming it will all depend on their life cycle as to how quickly it clears up. When did you treat him with Revolution? Does it say anything in the leaflet that usually comes with these treatments? I'm sure the spot-on treatments I use have a leaflet that goes through each parasite it treats and how often you should apply the treatment to get rid of anything in particular.

If you don't have the leaflet I'm sure you can google it as most of these things can be found online these days.

Ear Mite Treatment in Dogs and Cats
For the treatment of ear mite (O. cynotis) infestations in dogs and cats, Revolution should be administered
once as a single topical dose. A second monthly dose may be required in some dogs. Monthly use of
Revolution will control any subsequent ear mite infestations. In the clinical field trials ears were not cleaned,
and many animals still had debris in their ears after the second dose. Cleansing of the infested ears is
recommended to remove the debris.

I had an elderly cat that had dirty ears and kept itching them. She didn't have ear mites, but rather a bad yeast infection in her ears. The vet cleaned them out and I gave the cat ear drops the vet prescribed for 2 weeks. I brought her back but she still had the infection so the ear drops continued for a week. I thought she had lost her hearing, but after this was all cleared up she stopped itching and no more dirty ears, plus she could hear again! Can you imagine how uncomfortable she must have been?!

Thankfully, I've never encountered ear mites in Raiden. They always check his ears at the vet -- and Raiden goes more than once a year since he usually gets sick or has diarrhea at some point in between.

I adopted a cat with ear mites. The vet gave me a solution to put in the ears twice a day and I had to clean them daily for probably two weeks. I am not sure that revolution alone will clear mites. At the very least you probably have to do some cleaning. I would try a different vet.
