Brian -- you're a hoot!!! I hope each day gets better for you and Diesel, Donna!!!! It won't be too much longer and he can be jumping up and down all over the place. He should be released from the crate soon, right?

Yes, I think we're going to let him have his freedom overnight tonight and see how he does. As long as he's not going crazy jumping on things we'll leave him out. He actually put himself to bed in the crate last night, I looked over and he was in there laying down so I went and petted him and then shut the door. A few hours later he started fussing, but it didn't last long.

His incision is starting to look a little bit better too, he's stopped biting at it finally.

Aww, isn't he the sweetest little thing? Poor baby! I'm sure he will recover completely and be as good as new!!! How cute that he went into the crate himself! Keep us updated, Donna.

He is just gorgeous looking. He has little bush baby eyes! I would find it very hard to deny him anything with those eyes!

Thank you all for the kind words. It is hard to say no to him sometimes :wink:

We had an eventful weekend. Friday night we decided to try letting him stay out since he's been doing so well. I woke up about midnight and found him laying on the family room floor with his incision bleeding, he had licked the scab off the whole thing :rolleyes:

Thankfully his sutures are still in so it was not opened up, it was just bleeding where he pulled the scab off. So I put all clean bedding into the crate and put him back in there.

He's been in the crate most of the weekend, with some time out only while we can supervise him. When he's out he'll get "twitchy" like he has an itch he can't scratch then he'll start running around like a nut and go under the couch and start fussing with the incision. When he's in the crate he doesn't bother it. I'm guessing that when he's more active it's either itching more or it just feels odd and that's why he picks at it. So the plan is 1 more week of crate rest with some exercise time each night. He is starting to walk a little better, still limping as expected but not as badly :thumbup:

Aww, such a cutie pie!!! I wish Raiden would burrow! I tried covering him up with a blanket and he wanted no part of it! I found him later laying on top of it! He does have a round hooded heated bed that he lives in during the winter when it gets super cold.

We have some throw blankets on the couch and if we're using them he'll climb under them, it's too funny. He doesn't do it on the bed though, he only wants to be on top of the covers on the bed.

I bet Raiden is too cute in his heated bed :mrgreen:

Good to see he's doing well, even if he is pulling his scabs off!

My two do that with throws as well, I have to make little tents with my legs for them lol

Raiden's heated bed is leopard print so we can't even tell if he's IN it! LOL. He has started using it early this year. Still haven't plugged it in yet as I'll wait until I turn the heat on for winter. Hope Diesel is doing much better today.

Diesel has been leaving the incision alone for the most part, it's looking a lot better now and I think we should start seeing the sutures dissolve soon. He's also been putting himself in the crate :lol:

I let him out last night and he walked around a bit then went back into the crate and laid down. I left it open and when we sat down to watch TV he came and got up on the couch in his usual spot. When it was time for bed we put him in the crate and he didn't really fuss much. He's getting plenty of treats and special food while he's in there so I don't think he's too badly traumatized :wink:

I think Diesel is getting used to the routine! He won't know what to do when he doesn't have to sleep in the crate!

I'm glad he's doing well for the most part, and leaving his sutures alone! Did you do anything in particular to discourage him from harassing the wound or is he just naturally disinterested?
