Suki was spayed on the 28 January. The vet had shaved quite a large area of her fur off considereing how tiny the wound was. How long does this hair take to grow back? She is still pretty much bald there and only a few tiny dark hairs have grown so far. Is this normal?

Mine were all spayed before Christmas and the rate of hair growth has been different in all three of them. Daisy's always had fuzzier hair than the others and hers started to grow back almost immediatey - now you can only see a slight "dent" in the fur. Dolly's has been a bit slower and it's still pretty obvious that she had a patch shaved off but it's getting there and the spots are obvious now. Before Lily unfortunately met her end on the road, her fur had been much slower to re-grow. She had a smoother, silkier coat than the other two but I dont know if that had anything to do with the slower growth. I did wonder whether maybe it was the fluffier under-fur that grew back quickly in Daisy and whether the top pelt takes longer.

Oh thank you, I feel better now. So it does seem to take a while then. Suki does have very silky soft fur so maybe this takes longer to grow? So sorry to hear about Lily x

It really does depend on where the fur has been remove from, It took nearly 6 months for our boy's fur to come back, he had fur removed from from his neck area for blood test when he first arrived in the uk.

It should be completely restored within a few months in your case though....nothing to worry about.

Saffy was spayed just before we bought her and i seem to remember a square patch of sparse fur, probably for a couple of months.
The square patch then seemed to suddenly spout fur from nowhere.
