Hi,

My second Bengal boy Gordon has not been himself since yesterday afternoon. He has not touched his food nor his water, he is lethargic and is not meowing at all (usually a very vocal cat)

Today it's not getting better, he coughed a few times like something was stuck in his throat but only threw up some saliva.

A few times today he was waiting in front of the water fountain but without trying to drink. We give him water with a syringe but everytime he coughs/throws up aterwards. This evening (actually 30 minutes ago) he used his litter for the first time since yesterday morning and had just few drops of runny poo with a hint of red color.

I'm so worried and can't wait for tomorrow morning to take him to the vet I don't feel like calling the emergency line on Sunday midnight, and I only trust my regular vet.

Anyone had similar issues with their Bengal ?

A couple of things, does he go out? and what diet does he eat? It sounds to me like he has eaten possibly a foreign object or he has something stuck in his throat - I understand the emergency vet concern but to me I would be very concerned and feel he needs to be seen. It's obviously your call as your cat but the fact he can't keep anything down, he has blood in his poop (what there is of it) and lethargic to me is a serious concern - he could have a serious obstruction somewhere. Do re think that call to the emergency vet - they might even give your some advice over the phone if you explain to them everything thats happening (I know mine do)

Thank you for your replies. I woke up at 2.30 Gordon was coughing and threwing up saliva again. I'm staying close to him monitoring him until my vet opens. Can't sleep anyway... Now he's on the couch, resting.

He goes out once a day on harness only, in our garden, never by himself. He usually eats wet food. But hasn't touched his food for more than 24 hours now... When he goes out he likes to eat grass he ate quite a lot of it on Saturday morning

The vet analyzed Gordon's blood thankfully nothing serious. No sign of occlusion so she doesn't think he swallowed anything suspicious. She gave him a shot of antiinflammatory and antiemetic.

There has been some improvement this evening (he's drinking water and eating a little) but still very tired.
