I have a 14 month Bengal boy whom up to 3 months ago was completely normal and happy. One night I noticed he wasn't walking comfortably so placed him on our bed thinking maybe he had hurt his leg or similar. About an hour later he could hardly use his back legs and had completely lost control of his bowl. I was a mess and incredibly upset. I got him into the vet and after 5 days or checking and blood tests, xrays and a huge bill later etc could not what was wrong with him. They them placed him on some antibiotics and immediately he started to return to the Bengal he was before. I was relieved thinking he was on the mend. As the antibiotics treatment finished and then started to wear off his pain started to return and he didn't want to walk anymore. More vet visits and more $$$ and the vet thinks it is something to do with his intestines but is not 100%. If we give him antibiotics he returns to a normal cat and once he comes off them he returns to a cat unable to walk comfortably we think due to abdominal/intestinal discomfort. I cant tell you if he has diarrhea as he still goes out every night to go to the toilet. (We live in the country). I have completely removed the grain from his diet (hard food) and am adding pro-biotics but this doesn't seem to be making a difference. The vet has suggested the next step is a biopsy but can somebody shed any light on to anything or something they may have experienced before we do this? The antibiotic thing puzzles me because it instantly seems to make him feel better. Huge thanks in advance.

Thank you for your answer. I'll try and get him inside tonight and keep him there until he uses the kitty tray (which he has so much hate for!). I think I need to find out what his numbers 2's look like

Maybe get him started on steroids as a precaution, if you see improvement then you may be onto the cause. The sooner you start the better chances for recovery.
